"Cambridg Soundworks should win an award for this one !"
After reading a number of good reviews on the OontZ 3 , I decided to try one. The price was low enough to take the risk and so I gave it a shot. When the package arrived, the box was rather small and I thought it was perhaps the wrong item because no speaker system that received such great reviews could possibly come in such a small box ! I was even more surprised when I opened the box to find the item exactly as the image portrayed in the ad and started to laugh thinking that there couldn't be so many people that believe this thing could possibly do what they said it would. I figured for the price it wasn't even worth it for me to send it back so I decided to have some fun with the little thing. Plugged in my Sony MP-3 player and fired it up as the unit did come partially charged. Instructions were easy enough to follow as the diagram clearly showed what every button and indicator light would do as well as the inputs for non wireless items and usb charging. I initially kept the volume low so as not to destroy the little thing right off but quickly discovered that increasing the volume did not bring about any distortion ! The clarity, fidelity of sound was amazing ! OK, so it wasn't as loud as the Bose but... I had it outside on my deck and my brother and I could feel the bass vibrations in the decking boards ! My wife came home while we were now "blasting" this thing and asked me to turn it down so we could speak ! She was totally blown away by what it could do and how clear it sounded. Next was to try the blue tooth side for my cell phone in the car to see how well it would perform as a hands free speaker system. Yet again it was outstanding ! This thing is so amazing sounding and SO portable, it's easier to move around than the Bose or any other player we have. It just replaced all of them because it takes up virtually no room at all... can be placed just about anywhere, even hidden from view and fill the area with great fidelity no matter what you are playing. I tested it with a variety of recordings to see if there would be any discrepencies in the sound quality. Clannad, The Doors, Motown, Jimi Hendrix, Moody Blues and many others all performing and sounding fantastic ! I use it on my patio when friends are over and can simply pickup the speaker and MP-3 player with one hand and move it to the kitchen counter.... the dining room for background music, etc... "They" say it's great for college dorms and I'm sure it is but it goes well beyond the dorm my friends ! My brother is ordering one to use with his laptop as an external monitor... again... so much more space saving than his old conventional monitor. It doesn't have a powered sub woofer but he said the bass is more than sufficient from such a tiny, portable unit ! We made comparisons to other systems... called it the working mans Bose and even made jokes that it was designed with "alien technology"... who knows ? Mebbe ? The engineers at Cambridge did a magnificent job on this one and even though it is built in China, you will NOT second guess the quality of this item ! I will be ordering a few more as gifts before someone realizes what a winner this is and the price starts to skyrocket or they become back ordered for a year due to demand !! Can I say more ?? Probably ! But I will simply end with this one closing remark.... "BUY ONE AND SEE" !

Quality Speaker & usb-c port
Big difference from the last Bluetooth speaker I ordered. I was hoping but didn't know if it would have the usb-c ports since my phone uses those newer ones also (don't have to swap out charging chords) 🙌 also when I turn it off this OontZ speaker is silent. My old speaker would announce loudly "turning off" no matter what the volume was set on. The price is good since it's nice and clear and quite loud for its size

this thing actually bumps
this thing actually sounds really good.. it has two drivers, one for the left and one for the right.. they are about 40 mm each.. the grill is not removable, The speaker grill has such tiny holes that if you get it dirty, you can use some Scotch tape to remove what is stuck in it, most likely.. I listened to the entire album of licensed to Ill right after taking it out of the box and charging it a little, you can use it while it is still charging. now it may not thump like a pair of 12-in kicker solo baric subs hooked up to a 1200 watt digital monoblock amp.. lol but for a small speaker setup, this is definitely the best that I have heard at this size and price point. I'm really glad I picked these up. I'm the type of person that actually notices how the speakers in smartphones have been getting worse and worse... so I run an equalizer most of the time.. every pair of earbuds I have tried require an equalizer to reduce the sub bass and the extreme treble to make them sound halfway normal.. this little triangle box is so good, instead of reducing the sub bass and boosting some higher bass to get a little bit of kick.. this thing actually can reproduce Bass.. I mean not only was I able to leave the bass straight, but I actually boosted all the bass below 250 HZ and I only reduced the very high trebles because of my preference.. with most speaker setups if you want to hear the bass more, you would need to have the bass reflex side facing you, but this little system actually pushes more bass from the front of the drivers than it does from the passive bass reflex set up.. it seems the electronics are all at the end with the buttons.. which makes sense.. it has one large passive bass reflex side that gets driven by both of the drivers, so there probably isn't a divider between the two drivers at all, but I must say, the clarity is extremely good, even at full volume.. and the volume buttons on this control its own attenuator.. meaning that it does not change the volume setting of your device or smartphone.. so you can set the phone at what volume you want with the phone and then with the speaker box, you can also lower the volume on it.. I was playing it with both the phone and volume at full tilt.. but most of the time I would have it it with the volume turned down one press of the button from maximum on both the phone and on the speaker box. I'm actually calling it a speaker box because this thing is worthy. it's just over 5 inches long so it's big enough to really reproduce some bass.. surprisingly, and small enough to be very portable, plus the triangle shape should prove really nice for many applications.. I believe it has a decent sized battery.. I don't believe you can find something better for this price.. and the appearance? well the packaging it came in was way nicer than it needed.. and the appearance of the device, well this thing is very very nice, the end caps seem to be silicone which is awesome and it has very nicely designed foot pads to try to prevent it from moving around.. some reviews said that the base sounded better when the bass reflex side was facing downward but I heavily disagree.. I got the best bass from standing it on one end with the drivers actually facing me. I might actually buy a second one but this thing is nice enough that it doesn't really need it. maybe the sound would be even better with two of them paired together.. but I am very happy with it. I got a black one. I don't remember if it was available in different colors as I was shopping online quite a bit before deciding to try this one, I was assuming that I might return it if I wasn't happy with it but I'm definitely happy with it. it doesn't have the cool retro appearance that some speakers have, and I do love the retro appearance of smooth cones with concave caps that look like subwoofers with no grill in separate boxes.. but this thing sounds awesome and the shape is probably extremely convenient for me. it has some weight and the textures on it feel like top quality, and all of the print with words for information are on the side with the bass reflex which is just perfect.. I have not tried using it for a phone call yet but I see the singular pinhole where the microphone is at one of the corners.. it probably works just fine so long as you don't take a wad of refried beans and shove it into the hole lol.. very soon I will be playing some test tracks with crazy boosted sub bass. 😁😇 I wrote this review using the microphone on it, and I'm not even holding it up. so it does work, that's for sure. I believe the triangle shape, the decent amount of volume inside of the box and the angle of the passive bass reflex panel, combined with the fact that both drivers are acting on it, and that the large mass of the passive diaphragm, all contribute to its ability to reproduce... dare I say it.. sub bass. very cool. if I want to use it out and about, hopefully the battery can last, it's also cool that it has the 3.5 mm auxiliary input jack. I really like this pocket-sized system alot.

Good but,..
Good price, gets loud, great battery and super easy bluetooth connection. Sound quality is subjective but I consider the Oontz angle solo to have a much better bass and sound overall than the Oontz angle 3 . Still a great value for money but I prefer to pair two Oontz angle solo or if only one speaker, I will still choose the Oontz angle solo over the Oontz angle 3.

The Ultimate Portable Powerhouse for Your Next Adventure
Oh boy, do I have a story for you! It all started when I was looking for the perfect Bluetooth speaker to take with me on my next camping trip. I wanted something that was portable, durable, and most importantly, had great sound quality. After scouring the internet for hours, I finally stumbled upon the OontZ Upgraded Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker, and boy am I glad I did. Let me start off by saying that this speaker is an absolute powerhouse. With its powerful 10-watt output, I was able to blast my music at full volume and still have it sound crystal clear. And speaking of volume, this thing can get LOUD! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to hear it over the sound of the campfire and the crickets, but boy was I wrong. I actually had to turn it down a few notches because it was so loud! But what really impressed me about this speaker was its wireless range. The box claims it can reach up to 100 feet, and I was skeptical at first, but I decided to put it to the test. I walked a full 100 feet away from the speaker, and not only could I still hear my music perfectly, but I was even able to control the volume and skip tracks from my phone. I mean, come on, how cool is that?! Now, let's talk about the battery life. I was a little worried that the battery wouldn't last through a full weekend of camping, but again, I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to use it all day on Saturday, and even after leaving it on overnight, it still had enough juice to last through most of Sunday. And when it finally did die, it only took a couple of hours to fully recharge. But the real kicker? This thing is water-resistant! I accidentally spilled a whole cup of water on it, and I thought for sure it was a goner. But to my surprise, it kept on playing like nothing had happened. I wouldn't recommend taking it for a swim, but it's definitely a nice peace of mind to know that it can handle a little splash here and there. The first time I used the OontZ Upgraded Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker was at a backyard barbecue, and everyone was blown away by its sound quality. We played everything from classic rock to pop, and the speaker handled it all with ease. It even has a built-in microphone, which was perfect for taking hands-free calls without having to disconnect the speaker. Another thing that impressed me was how easy it was to connect to my phone. All I had to do was turn on my phone's Bluetooth, and the speaker immediately popped up as an option. It connected seamlessly every time, and I never experienced any lag or dropped connections. One thing to note is that this speaker is on the larger side for a portable speaker, but I didn't mind that at all. It's still small enough to easily pack in a backpack or duffel bag, and the added size means better sound quality and battery life. And last but not least, I have to give a shoutout to the OontZ customer service team. I had a question about the speaker, and I reached out to their customer service team via email. They responded within 24 hours and were incredibly helpful and friendly. It's rare to find a company that genuinely cares about its customers, but OontZ definitely impressed me in that regard. Overall, I would give the OontZ Upgraded Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker a solid 5 out of 5 stars. It exceeded my expectations in every way, and I can't wait to take it on many more adventures in the future. If you're in the market for a portable Bluetooth speaker that packs a punch, look no further! Let's compare the OontZ Upgraded Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker with the JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth Speaker, which is a competitive brand. Here's a breakdown of their features: 1. Overall, both speakers have their pros and cons, and it ultimately depends on your personal preferences and needs. The OontZ Upgraded Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker is more affordable and has a longer battery life, while the JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth Speaker is more durable and waterproof with a higher quality sound.

Reliable
Great little speaker works well in my car. I like the angle of the speaker, placing on center console by the stick shift and sound directs upward toward my head. Warning. Don't leave it on the dashboard in direct sunlight because housing will melt. Will still work like a champ in spite of being misshapen and taped together with scotch tape though. Quality and reliability. Product lasted 2 years before it recently started crackling and degraded sound comes out of the speaker. I mean, it's half melted from 2 seasons of the Florida summer sun, I think it held up nicely under the conditions I put it through. Replacing with same product because it is overall a great little speaker that has great battery life and sound quality.

The Golden Age of Aux Speakers?
I'm giving this 5 stars not because it's perfect, but in comparison to comparable products and prices. This review is for people looking to carry a speaker around. It is not ideal as a sound bar or semi-permanent desktop audio system because larger, more expensive, less-portable products will do better there. Sorry to gush a little, but this will probably be helpful for people doing in-depth research like I did. The downside of this review is it's my first BlueTooth speaker. But I've been searching for the perfect self-powered auxiliary speaker for decades. I still have the old Radio Shack RCA 4x C powered speakers some will remember from the '80s. Those were surprisingly good: an MP3 speaker before MP3s existed, but the Achilles heel was the 4 C cells (and the high self-draining auto-off w/no hard switch), or I'd probably still be using them. The size of those RCA's was also comparable to a lot of brick-shaped modern Bluetooth speakers, which I think is too big for ultraportable use. I think the Angle3 is the best compromise out there right now for people who want to carry the speaker with them from room to room, but something quality enough for marathon listening of shows and books. PROS - DEDICATED VOLUME BUTTONS (most BT speakers have annoying dual-use buttons where you have to press-and-hold the button to get to the volume--or no volume control at all. Having really quick volume control and still have pause/mute is really handy. You lose bluetooth track skip, but it' so worth it to me. Good choice design choice IMO, CSW!) - SHAPE (is there any other triangular shape out there? yet it really makes sense. rectangles/cubes/muffin shapes either project the sound straight up, or straight out. triangle design also stable and tip-resistant.) - 18650 BATTERY INSIDE (known capacity and output, more chance of good quality, easier to service, I like the way the designers were thinking. I haven't seen the innards of an Angle3 but a reviewer of the Angle2 Plus posted internals) - OTHER SMART DESIGN TRAITS (real screws, mostly logical hardware layout, and did I say 18650 battery which makes the 10 watts possible & believable; most units 3-7 watts. thank you Cambridge SoundWorks, for not gluing those rubber bumpers on. nice) - PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON WORKS AS MUTE BUTTON IN AUX MODE (useful when listening to live or streaming broadcasts where you can't fast-forward over commercials) CONS & NEUTRAL - Power button is too close to the connectors, and awkward to turn on. Hard to find with your fingers (or even eyes). Cambridge seems to be aware of this, so they put a decal of "POWER" with an arrow pointing to the button, tacitly admitting it's hard to find. You don't really have to worry about turning it off, so turning it on is not that big of a deal. Just more difficult if you have an aux cable attached. I think this is to make the soft switch hard to accidentally turn the unit on, and in that they succeeded. The original Angle had a real hard/mechanical power switch which is nice, but I am also enjoying the convenient 10-min(?) auto-off (and it's nice that it doesn't make a noise when it turns off, if you're asleep). I wish I knew the soft-off power consumption. Considering the 18650 cannot be swapped from a battery hatch (I REALLY wish it were), I don't want it to be dead when I go to grab it. An 18650 battery compartment would make soft-off power draw partly moot as I could remove the battery for storage. - So not a con, but a Wish List for future version: I'd really love to see Cambridge migrate to an 18650 which is replaceable like a normal AA battery, so I could choose my own batteries, charge them externally, and replace them when they drain down. As a flashlight guy, I have a ton of quality 18650s lying around.. modern electronics are screaming out to have 18650 cells be the next AA. (Cambridge, make sure your battery compartment can fit protected cells, if you do this! Take a look at some of the cheap MiFine 18650-powered radios sold here. This needs to be a trend.) - After using it, I see that the triangular design and all-black color scheme makes it hard to figure out the orientation at a glance: which side fires the speakers? Which side has the controls? In Bluetooth mode, you can actually have it perfectly facing towards you, yet it's still upside-down. That's not a problem till you go to push a button. Which side is it on? Or your finger's on the correct side, the buttons may not where your finger expects them. This makes a good case for one of the colored versions, but I devices like this to not catch the eye. I may use some fingernail paint or something to mark the top of the triangle, perhaps just on one side to also note which side has the buttons. - Nitpicking, but kind of a dirt magnet. If these are my biggest issues with it, I'm ecstatic. The rubber side covers could probably be removed and washed if desired. A NOTE ON SOUND Most readers just want to know about "the sound", but there's much more to a bluetooth speaker, so I've chosen to focus more on those other things. I'll get "the sound" part out of he way now. What I write may not be applicable for most, because I'm an audiophile, and most stuff sounds like crap to me, compared to the glowing reviews I read. I'm disappointed by a lot of speaker systems which most people go wild about. Then again, the setups I've settled with would be extreme for most people. I really think most Americans have substantial hearing damage. I know expectations and understanding limitations is important. In that light: the Angle3 (to me) did not quite live up to the reviewers' claims for music, but it did live up to hopes in VOLUME, and for most hearing-damaged people, quality=quantity. I haven't tested its upper limit with music, but with speech, yeah it can go louder than I need or even want. Cranking it outside, yeah you could get your neighbors' attention. Quality-wise, it sound quite excellent for speech and occasional bumper music, which is mostly what I'll use it for. But quality sound does not equal high volume, and if this is the best-sounding speaker system you have, I feel bad for you. But for many, this will be. The laws of physics put some limitations on a box this small, but considering that and Amazon's price, it does a really admirable job. The passive bass radiator does actually do something, too. A comparison: to my memory, the sound is not quite as good as 'portable' Panasonic dual cassette-radio smaller boombox I used a lot in the 1990s, but that thing was much bigger comparatively. It also had dual 4-inch speakers, and was always AC-powered--not really portable, and if it was, took C cells, making it not really a fair comparison. So considering the limitations and cost of the Angle3, nearly matching that sound quality in something this size is exciting, because it's SO DANG USEFUL. I've used it so much in the first week, it doesn't look new anymore. CONSLUSION This little is I think the best compromise of size, shape, sound, and price. It's big enough to give volume that won't disappoint except for truly extreme needs (like the review by the UPS driver in a noisy truck going at highway speeds) or disproportionate expectations, but it's small enough to take with you from room to room as it plays. I sit it on my chest in bed, or beside me; it's great. Without having an opportunity to hear other current/popular BT speakers (and online video reviews with sound only get you so far), I still think I made the right decision. I'm loving the Angle3, and using it a lot. There are a ton of good choices at prices more affordable than ever, so making up my mind was a painful, lengthy decision, as if I'm going to buy several, I might as well buy one that's several times the cost of this--so I wanted to only buy one, but make it a good choice. I would say the loudness is more impressive than the sound quality. And I didn't buy it to blast anything, but the sound quality is quite nice in this size, and I'm sure there's nothing in this SIZE and price range which would impress me more. If I needed more of a desktop-type speaker, I'd definitely go with a bigger one, like the Denon brand--but I wanted SMALL (I actually was originally shopping for smaller), with good sound, and loudness when I need it occasionally. I've found the form factor very convenient. I'm not jonesing for an upgrade. But if Cambridge managed to reduce the size a bit yet again, while still increasing sound quality and not compromising on volume, AND introduced a battery compartment for removable 18650 batteries? Yeah, I'd bite. I cut out a lot of writing for this review, for the smartphone generation. I'm thinking about posting a fuller review elsewhere for people who'r really into doing research. If requested, I can share more details. If you have questions, feel free to ask. If you're handy and adventurous, open one up and help the community with some pics of guts, if I don't get to it first. Frankly, aux speakers sucked until Bluetooth speakers hit the market, but lithium batteries is more the reason behind it, though economies of scale was the other. All my life I've scrounged for a decent aux-input speaker with no good answers--and suddenly, online stores are overflowing with an amazing variety of high-quality, low-cost options. The hardest part was settling on one! I don't get it! Even in the past 5 years, the quality and options have gone up immensely, and seems to keep going. The Golden Age of aux speakers?

Pro's: Small and Loud Decent Bass Con's Harsh sound as volume gets loud Not warm at all,has distortion Needs Eq to sound best.
This is an email I sent to Cambrige in regards to my concerns about device I am posting it because it is essentially a review ***BEGINNING OF EMAIL*** As you can see from [the order] I ordered both the angle 2 and 3 [OA2 and OA3] . The OA2 i got for my neighbor. I am having an issues with the angle 3 to give background information I am a Dj, and audio producer so I am well versed in the many variables of sound quality . I am getting distortion from the angle 3. I first noticed when compare the sound quality between the OA2 and OA3. The OA2 has a much more accurate [sound] which is also a very warm natural playback while the OA3 an exaggerated top end, its almost as if there is an internal hi freq boost from about 3.1k to 14k. to increase perceived loudness. I have compensated this by lowering the frequency in these bands in a custom eq i set on my phone which greatly improves the accuracy of the playback and lessens the harshness but does not do anything for the distortion. Its almost as there is harmonic distortion being created by the amplifer. I'm presuming its from the amp that is causing the distortion, as I noticed this under all conditions but more so when played louder and/or under certain conditions: 1] female vocals [Eryca Badu Jill Scot] this is very noticeable when comparing to the OA2. the OA2 is warm and smooth while the OA3 has a raspy scratchy distortion over the vocals this is noticeable even when the volume is relatively low. The other time it is very noticeable is A bass guitar playing around 100hz-300hz[including the guitar harmonics its probably about 300hz-900hz [well with in range of this device] These notes creates a very noticeable buzzing overdrive distortion sound when playing from a medium volume and up[The song was Flashing lights by BBNG] this song is the most noticeable because the bass guitar is a solo at the beginning of the track so you can pin point that this is not from any other instrument in the track . Its even more noticeable because on this track the only variable is the volume : if your playing it medium low there relativity no distortion but when playing it medium to medium high the distortion increases rapidly. the distortion is defintily an issue. To rule some out variables all critical testing has been with high quality 320kbps tracks and have been tested on both the OA3 and OA2. . . and this fault only occurs on the OA3 plus for reference I routinely play these same tracks from the same source on my mains which are are set of Professional Mackie C300's which are of studio reference quality . Im kind of torn between the OA2 and OA3, OA2 Pro:s super warm, accurate smooth flat sound response excellent [no eq needed], battery life Cons Not as loud and its bigger OA3 Pro's: small and loud [extra head room for low tracks] Con's Not warm at all, has artificially boosted high end frequency[not a flat accurate response], further all the high end makes it sound very harsh ,plus horrible distortion as the volume gets louder. Of all these these comments I have made here, most of them seem to be by design for a superficial perceived increase in volume except for this distortion which seems to an amplifier issue and/or potentially a driver issue. Im looking forward to doing a youtube review on this item Note when reading through the reviews there other people who report these same faults/issues [distortion/unnatural high end frequency] which makes me wonder is this all units or just certain ones. Many Thanks Mike Rivera Any assistance would be greatly appreciated ***END OF EMAIL*** I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS A 5 if it weren't for the superficial exaggerated high end and the distortion, besides these 2 things I really really love it. Hopefully Cambridge will resolve this issue. To every body considering this device if your not an audiophile you probably will not notice what i am talking about BUT if you have an ear for quality these defects are annoyingly noticeable! Especially when comparing it to the older cheaper Oontz angle plus [2]. which is only 22 dollars and has a 15 hour battery life NOTE IF you want to EQ this for better sound , you want drop 3.1khz by-5db 8khz by -3db and 14k by -3db when you do this it sounds almost as warm as the OA2 except it still has the distortion on certain tracks . the Distortion may be a defect so I am awaiting cambridges response ,
