DEWALT DC411B 4-1/2-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Cut-Off Tool (Tool Only)

This is a great tool! I use it as a truck driver who hauls D.O.D & high-security items. The seals that are used on our trailers are the bolt-style and are very hard to cut if you're using bolt-cutters. I hesitate to write the rest of this review in case there are people reading this who have bad intentions..... but I'll hope for the best... If you're a truck driver who needs to cut bolt-seals regularly, then you should buy this plus an extra battery. It's so easy to slap on a battery to this cutoff grinder, & in less than 5 seconds, the bolt is cut. A side benefit is that the top of the bolt doesn't fly off like when using standard bolt-cutters. This helps when the dock agent asks you to show them both pieces of the seal. It fits in the sidebox of my truck much easier than a pair of 3 foot long cutters, & I don't have to worry about keeping them sharp, or rusting. The cutting wheel on this lasts me over 6 months of use before I have to change it out, which takes only a minute or two. By the way, the battery lasts me about a week before I have to recharge it. Like I said, it's ten times easier to use than trying to hold a pair of 3 foot cutters, and using them in the dark, rain, etc. Just 5 seconds and presto, the seal is cut.

This is one of the handiest tools to have cordless. So often a grinder is nice for touchup- cleanup- or for cutting off over length bolts etc. Not having to get out the extension cords for short work is extra handy. Just be sure to have plenty of extra XRP or the large lithium batteries around and charged as this little bugger will go through them quickly. I wouldn't expect more than a few minutes of continuous use per battery. While the batteries are up this thing cuts, grinds, like a champ. But if you need to do serious prolonged work go find a cord. The chargers won't charge the batteries anywheres close to as fast as this thing consumes them. But it sure is nice to just grab it and go get small jobs done.

This is a fantastic angle grinder. I use it for my tile business for cutting tile and cement board. The only problem is that the battery only lasts about 3 minutes when in use. Other than that, the product is really handy.

Awesome machine to work with

I first got one of these tools as part of a multi-tool kit and thought it would see very little use. I was way wrong! I use the tool almost every day in my job as a carpenter. It's great for cutting metal, but I've probably used it most cutting through stucco. That's rough duty for any tool, and this cut-off tool has performed remarkably well. I recently ordered this tool as a replacement for one that I had for years. It met a fatal demise when I dropped it on concrete off a 32 foot ladder. I was pleased to see that this newer version of the tool has an upgraded chuck locking mechanism identical to the corded DeWalt cut off tool. I have a rotation of 5 Lithium-Ion 18v batteries and have found that, with continuous use of the tool, one charger can stay ahead of it... even when doing power demanding tasks such as cutting stucco with a diamond blade. You'd need a bushel of Ni-cads to keep with it, so if you buy it with batteries, definitely get the Lithium-Ions. This tool is versatile and is a real work horse for a battery operated tool.

I was surprised this discontinued grinder was available new. Being that I still have several tools in good working order that take the same 18 volt battery why not. Wish there would have been more reviews written about it before I bought it. Because I'm not the only one disappointed with it. Doesn't matter if I use a genuine Dewalt or an aftermarket battery they just do not last. Mostly just wanted it with a brush close to the forge for blacksmithing.

The product is what I expected. What is REALLY BAD is it arrived with no spanner wrench. What it did come with is an allen wrench, for what I have no idea!?!?!? Would be nice for the company to send the spanner wrench that should come with any angle grinder / cutoff tool. Everything else seems to be right and the 18v batteries work fine. UPDATED REVIEW: I was contacted by the seller and the allen wrench. They explained how the allen wrench works and no spanner wrench is needed. This took a quick look at the tool with the allen wrench in hand. It works perfectly as explained. I am upping my star rating from 3 to 5 and I have no issues with the tool.

ONLY USED TWICE SO FAR BUT BOTH THOSE TIMES, I WAS HAPPY I HAD IT. HAD TO CUT A THICK PADLOCK OFF THE SHED (BROKE THE KEY INSIDE). THEN I CUT OFF SOME 3/4 INCH ANCHOR BOLTS STICKING OUT. WENT THROUGH IT LIKE AN ELECTRIC ONE WOULD. CAN'T SAY MUCH ABOUT BATTERY LIFE YET BUT IT SEEMS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO HANDLE MOST JOBS YOU THROW AT IT. BARE TOOLS IS THE WAY GO.

I've used the tool several times since I've purchased it. No problems or hic-ups. I use it out in the "field" where extension cords and power can be an issue. Medium duty steel cutting and grinding tasks are being done. I had concerns that it would not perform as well as a corded machine. Should of bought it sooner.

Nice tool, bit hard on batteries but to be expected..... it’s a quick convenient tool not for constant use like a corded 1

Received this today. Must have been some mixup when packaging because in the box was a Allen wrench instead of the spanner that should have come with it
