Grace 3-Z44 Professional Fabri-Fast Quilting Frame-Plain

I was really looking forward to having a quilt frame that I could tilt to accommodate real-life quilting! After it was all put together, it does exactly what the advertising says. I didn't buy the pre-stained version and I was too excited to wait before putting it together so I didn't stain it before-hand. I can't imagine ever taking it apart and staining it (they advise that you stain it before putting it together). I got it together - the directions were pretty good and as I said, it is fabulous - my neck and back don't get tired like they did on my old wooden traditional quilt frame or my fancy, shmancy PVC pipe version. If you decide to purchase this, I highly advise that you get it pre-stained. I think it would look gorgeous sitting out in my family room all year long if it was stained. As it is, I'll probably put it away for Christmas. But I think the ease with which I can now quilt will inspire me to do MORE quilting!Thank you Grace Frame company!!!

I ordered this quilt rack for my wife. The jury is out on how well it will really work, but I have to tell you this was horrible to put together. Mainly because the instructions sucked. Also I had to make 3 trips to the hardware store to purchase a few missing nuts and bolts. Yes I know I should have checked all the parts first then I could have contacted the company and waited 7 to 10 days for the missing parts. But who in their right mind would count ever one of the hundreds of pieces of hardware? Anyhow they could do a much better job with the assembly instructions. It took us about 10 hours over two days.

The delivery was made to my door on the first date of the range given upon ordering.All the frame parts were well-marked, nuts, bolts, and washers were all labeled and bagged separately, and accounted for prior to our beginning the construction of the Z44. The directions and illustrations were accurate and clear, and written in real American English so no 'guess work' was involved in deciphering syntax or definition. (Thank you!!)Since I have set it up to first make a king-size bed quilt, I realize it is critical that I save the directions for future use, as it explains the setup for each size quilt project one wants to quilt on this frame. One could never 'guess' at how to take it apart and re-construct it for a different sized quilt without those directions…so I recommend keeping them in a safe and obvious place for future use. It was helpful to have another person help me, as one could read directions while the second person performed the action, and double checked sizes bolts and washers being used. For my sister and I, this was like putting together a gigantic jigsaw puzzle, and we had fun doing it together.Still piecing the quilt top, so have not put it on the frame for quilting yet. I do like the way it folds to about 16" as I have placed it against the wall until I begin using it. It's not taking up the whole room!I've wanted a good, winding, quilt frame, with the poles to keep tension, for the last 20 years. I am excited to begin using it soon. This is a good product so far, and I would recommend it.

For all of its adjustments I just can't get comfortable with this quilting frame. I don't like that I can't quilt from either side of the quilt-only the front side. It layers the top, batting and backing nicely and holds it tight but I am not able to quilt anything but straight lines and make them pretty. Circles are out or at least very uncomfortable to stitch.I will say, however, it is wonderful quality.

This quilting frame was a snap to assemble by simply following the instructions.I did find one tiny mistake in the instructions but it was so minor that I forget what it was.It took about 2and1/2 hours to put it together not counting staining the wood.We found one of the aluminum tubes arrived slightly bent but a simple call to Grace had a replacement on it's way free of charge. SewvacDirect and Grace both made this experience a good one.The first quilt took a bit of time to put on but it is just a learning experience and the next one should be no problem at all.My wife made her own leader cloths and if we had it to do again we probably would have bought them from Grace and may do so yet.

It's hard to set up and get ready for quilting. My wife chipped one of the long boards at the groove, trying to get the thing set up. Then days in small clips of getting the material ready to attach to the bars. We'll know more when she actually quilts. For the price, they could have given a dvd with the booklet to give better visuals. It probably will work great.

The product is good quality and delivered very quickly. My only complaint was that it was a complete and at sometimes complicated assembly and the instructions left a lot to be desired. The steps were extremely detailed, but then lacked a picture of what your final product should look like for that step. It made me question if I was properly assembling the parts. I am pretty adept at assebling things and it took me about 3 1/2 hours to put together; I thought that some of the major pieces would at least be pre-assembled and I would just need to connect the parts. Overall it is a good product and I'm happy with the product.

it is just harder to use than my other one. loved the one with three rails, and wood ratchet wheels. Just not as easy set up as it could be!!!
