I bought this CAC card reader over six years ago when I was in the military to use on my personal computer, and I’m still using the same one today! It was way less expensive than the ones at the BX, and honestly, I think it works even better.It’s been totally reliable — no compatibility issues at all. I’ve used it on multiple Windows laptops without any problems. The reader is still just as fast and smooth as when I first got it, which is better than the built-in readers I’ve tried before.Size-wise, it’s perfect for my ID card and doesn’t take up a lot of space. It fits easily in my computer bag pocket so I can take it anywhere. The cable length is pretty short, but I’ve always left the plastic tie on and never needed to undo it since I usually plug it right into the laptop. If you wanted to run it from the back of a desktop up to your desk, it might be a little tight.Overall, this has been an awesome investment and I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a CAC reader for personal use!

I'm doing a contracting job right now where I need to remote into a virtual desktop using a smartcard. My company issued an IOGear GSR202, which has caused nothing but trouble when I'm connected to my AVD from my Mac. I'm constantly having to remove and reinsert my card, and occasionally the Windows AVD won't even recognize the reader, forcing me to sign out and sign back in. It's been a time-consuming process.I decided to try this card reader since the price was right. Great decision! This card reader is excellent. It feels a bit snappier than the IOGear one, but it also works great with the Windows AVD when I'm connected from my Mac. The driver install was quite simple, and now I'm able to easily authenticate on the virtual desktop without a problem. I'm very happy with this purchase and wanted to let anyone else who may have had problems with the situation I was in know that your problems can be resolved with this card reader.

Skip the other readers, this is an excellent reader and I have not had any issues from it. Tiny enough to fit in a quick to go bag.
