Excellent swab. Works on both wing and boot joints which is very convenient. Easy to use. Doesn't get stuck.

I used to own a swab that had string with a weight on the end and accidentally ruined it in the wash. Bought this as a replacement and love it even better! The chain weight helps it to pass quickly through the instrument. The cleaning ability seems to be fine even after months of use. It rolls up well for storage and is a good value for the money. I recommend it!

I love the size of the silk. It seems to be large enough to really do a good job swabbing out the moisture. Great colors also. I got the purple.

I don't have a bassoon but this works great with a traditional wooden Irish flute. The chain makes it easy to pull through the two joints and feeding the silk through a cleaning rod works for the head joint.

I am hoping the string does not separate from the silk. My previous swab has lasted 40 years but doesn’t fit through the boot joint.

I had my doubts when this first arrived. It was smaller than my previous swab and i questioned the use of a chain as a weight. Boy was i wrong! It works great and the chain weight is much easier to use than my previous swab with a single metal weight.

The only adjustment needed is to replace the Keychain weight with a longer length of chain to help stabbing the boot joint

Bassoon accessories are inevitably expensive and hard to track down. Thankfully, the Hodge bassoon swab comes at a very reasonable price and works for both the boot joint and the wing joint—everything you need to clean up after practice or rehearsal. I have been using this model of swab daily for most of my career, only having to replace it due to wear every 5-10 years.
