A great reference book as well. - Amazing photo history of the best times of hip hop. Ideas and beats were fresh and endless. I follow the author Vikki Tobak on social media as well as Contact High on social media, to see the star studded gallery shows around the world where these same music artists attend. This book is so relevant to hip hop history, fashion, photography and the birth of music videos. I’ve bought as gifts for friends of that era as well as kids who want to learn more of the culture. Review: It was just what I was looking for - Lots of good information for those who are interested in hip hop. Nice photos

Amazing cultural resource
I read the New York Times and New Yorker reviews of Contact High and decided I needed to have it. Wow. What a book. Amazing stories of the origins of hiphop music as told through some of the iconic visual images. This book is beautiful to look at, engaging to read, and a must-have for any music fan!

Great Gift
Bought this for a friend who is DJ, amateur photographer, and hip-hop fanatic. He's still gushing about it is the perfect book for him. He said it speaks to his inner-nerd!

This is America
Not just a book for hip hop heads. This is a volume of great images for any enthusiast of photography. Taken by talented artists with VERY nice cameras. The author collaborated with veterans and the images that made the cut are impressive. The timeline is a brilliant way of depicting the culture, where it came from, and where it’s heading.

Great Part of Music History.
This book was a gift to a 33 year old guy. He absolutely loved it. He collects books like this. Gift was a hit. This was about $34. Worth it for the guy that has everything and loves books.

A must have for any Hip Hop Lover and Photographer
I grew up on hip hop in the early 80s. I read WORD Up Magazine and had some pics from the magazine on the wall back in the day. I still impressed with the visuals of Hip Hop today. Contact HIgh provides a behind the scenes perspective of what was happening when these iconic images were being created.

Focuses only on photographic image - not a comprehensive visual history including album covers etc

Very interesting book, i thought it was smaller but it's bigger than i expected (it's not a bad thing, quite the opposite) If you love the Black Hip-Hop culture : just buy it, you won't regret it.
