What is the difference between the Gel product and this one? I want to seal Ash wood guitar bodies

The Grain filler is for filling the grain to get a smooth finish before top coating. The sanding sealer is for sealing the woos. I think the Grain Filler would be what you want.

Is this a good choice for woodturned bowls?

It is a high quality sanding sealer. Having said that I'd add that different woods will finish differently when the pores sealed. I might suggest doing samples first to ensure that the sealing and finishing work best for the wood you are using. It is a good product. Good luck with your project(s)

What is the difference between this (aqua coat clear grain filler) -vs- aqua coat x-119 sanding sealer ? does anyone use both?

The X-119 Sanding Sealer will help you build a fast high quality film on all woodworking jobs. It is a seal coat. The Aqua Coat Clear Grain Filler gel is small particle size grain filler that penetrates and seals the pores minimizing the absorption of your topcoats, achieving a glass smooth clear finish in less coats. It is a fill coat.

Can this sanding sealer be tinted by colorant or pigment ?

I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I will usually either dye or stain after I've sealed. Then if it needs it(depends on what I'm working on) I'll use Aquacoat clear grain filler and that I have tinted before, with so-so results. But I believe that was more me than the product. I'm sure if you send an email to their support team they could tell you for sure and if you can the best way to go about it. Good luck. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Interesting stuff

I'm working with exotic hardwoods and some of these, like zebra wood, are very porous. I'm using fractal burning with an inlay in the burn kerf. Thus product seems to work well to fill in every nook and pour. So far I'm happy c with this produce. I will buy mire in the future.One slight problem when applying with a foam brush is small spots of bubbles if pressing with anything but a very light touch

Great on Balsa Wood

Worked perfect for a balsa wood 3d topographic map. Easy to spread. I ended up using 2 coats with sanding after each. Very smooth finish, no thick areas.

I used it on foam for a model plane and it reduced the weight gained by painting but not by a lot. Not so sure that its worth the price.
