alpicool update.
Got this in june 2019. We have been using it off and on last year on our RV.. couple week here and there.. Now the end of may 2020 we went fulltime in our RV and this has been in use full time. We use it as extra refrigerator space and for a place to put tall stuff. Be sure to check the reviews for the hidden setting info. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R3BF0LCRFSOJ0K?ASIN=B073WYS3TR the unit has been sitting on the floor of our RV on the roads of NY, PA, OH, NH (lost 2 hub cap of truck and 2 off RV) so it has been beat around for the past 2.5 months and still keeps on running. It runs as either a cooler or freezer depending on your temp set point but not both. I have it plugged into my 12v port that is appx 12 ft from the batteries(12 ga wire) and the cord on the unit is appx 9 ft long and looks to be 12 ga so the voltage drop is appx 2.5 volts when running so if you set the battery protect setting at 12.5 it will shut off.. I put mine at the lowest which is 9.6v.. and have no issues with battery voltage down to 12.1 volts at battery. Overall for the most part it a good product that seem to be a tough cookie.. :) LAST but not least.. after you get the product do NOT plug it in for at least 12 hrs.. WHY.. ??? it could have been put in a truck upside down ( I found mine on the front porch upside down despite the UP arrow) so take it out of the box open the lid to let it air out and let it sit for the day.. that allows the oil to go the right place when you start it up.. >>> UPDATE: so here we are in Dec of 2020 and some now 8K+ miles of RV travel with this sitting on teh floor bouncing around, sometime crazy stuff, and still going strong. I put some non slip stuff on the bottom to help keep it some sliding around when we travel.. the space inside has been a real treat when we go to like costco and have 3 containers of OJ and 2 Qts of milk to store when you have a 8CF refrigerator to begin with. you will get some moisture in the bottom over time so we pull everything out and give it a good clean every couple months and especially before a big trip to costco for sure. If i were to replace it I would go the larger 2 section unit the Alpicool T60 to more freezer space which reduces the refrigerator size by some. so far so good.. :) UPDATE: Sept 2022.. so here we are again with an update.. this unit has been one of the best item gotten in a long time. it works every day all day and the extra storage area is such a help when you full time rv and have a Sams and costco accounts.. :) you can stuff a lot of stuff in it to help .. runs off the batteries which are now 230 Ah lithium.. we look forward to many more years of usage.. i do blow out the fins about once a year or so when we clean it out and take outside to do. it get unplugged and I take the covers over and blow the dust etc out of the fan.. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE it.. :) UPDATE... Oct 2024,, shortly after the sept 2022 update, the unit started to show frost up near the top above the compressor end. We had to replace it as it was not able to maintain temp.. suspect it was a slow leak causing the problem.. went to alpicool website to get slight discount and free shipping.. oh course the delivery guy left it on friends door upside down.. flipped it over and let it sit of 3 hrs or so before plugging in to allow oil to flow back to compressor. plugged in and good to go.. a great addition.. highly recommend.. New or second unit was placed in service 5-12-23. UPDATE... 4-27-25 the now second unit direct from Alpicool is starting to show issues. Within the last month I was noticing the temp display was showing 50 deg and unit was running a lot.. things seemed to stay cold and when checked with thermometer was keep temp around 40-32.. now we have a line around top that look like frost which is not normal.. compressor runs constantly using a lot more battery watts then before.. Might have to switch to the more expensive Engel or National Luna brands at some 11-$1200 but seem to be overall better according to many reviews from overlander type that tend to use them more. At this point some $500 spend on these 12v compressor coolers and looking to spend another $250 I am close to the lower end cost of the nicer coolers.. If I had done a bit more research and money was less a problem back then, gone with a higher end unit like the 1. NL or 2. Engel or 3. dometic. I have learned over the year you get what you pay for.. better to buy once and cry once .. :) We plan to be full time RVer for the foreseeable future maybe getting a place for winter in southern AZ yuma area and travel more in spring to fall stopping for harvest job in the fargo ND area for couple months then heading south to nc then tx and AZ. i will keep updating this page as we progress and will include new cooler whatever brand it may be.. :)

An update after a long camping trip using the C40
I posted a review when I first received the C40. But this is an update after a week-long trip. Here is an update on the Alpicool C40 compressor Fridge. I just got back from a week-long Boondocking camping trip up in the high Sierra mountains of California. I ran the C40 the whole week long. But I'm not sure it was a proper test. The conditions were not ideal. We were at the 6,600-foot level and the temperature during the day was in the high 80s. Nights did not get below about 40 degrees (F). We knew it was going to be warmer than usual so I parked my camper under some trees. That was a mistake. I have only one battery and one 100-watt solar panel. The panel only had a 25-foot line going to the camper. I was having to move the panel to find sunlight several times per day. For much of the day, I did not have any power being generated at all. Maybe just 3 or 4 watts. The brochure says that the C40 uses 40 Watts when running. My son was with me and he had all day sunlight on his panel. His meter showed that he was generating as much as 60 Watts almost all day. We have the same Solar system. By the time I figured out the sun problem I was already set up and did not want to move. If I would have had another 25 feet of line, I could have also had sunlight all day. I will be ordering one tomorrow! It was warm enough up there that I did not need to run my heater at all. I only used power for the LED lights and the water pump. Even with all of those terrible conditions, the C40 ran for the whole week and maintained its temperature just like it was supposed to. As a precaution, I would turn the temperature up to about 44 during the night and back down to about 37 (F) in the morning. It was inside of my camper only 4 feet from me and was quiet enough that I did not hear it turn on and off during the night. But then again, I could sleep through a Thunderstorm. My battery never got below about 11.5 during the night. I had set the C40 safety shut-off at 9.5 volts. So it never turned off at night. Late every afternoon, I was able to find a spot at the rear of my camper where I had full sunlight on the panel until dark. In that location, I was generating 67 watts of power just long enough to bring the battery back up to nearly a full charge for the night and next day. Even though I had to fight for sunlight the whole week, I was very pleased with the C40. I did find that the internal temperature sensor was not very accurate. So I got a proper Fridge thermometer. I found that when the C40's panel was showing internal temperature was 44 degrees, the actual temperature inside was about 37 degrees (F). But it was very consistent. That would explain why there was some ice forming on the walls inside when the display was showing 37 degrees. It was actually going down below 32 degrees. I just learned to compensate for the difference. As long as you don't have a lot of power requirements, one 12-volt battery and one 100-watt solar panel is all you need to keep the C40 running all day and all night. You just have to make sure you can generate more than 40 Watts of power for some of the day to keep the battery charged. I am going to order another 25-foot extension for my Solar panel. In the photo, my popup camper is in the shade of the trees to the right. June 6, 2014 An update after 3 years of use: The Fridge is still woring as it was when I bought it 3 years ago.

What a work horse‼️
Our RV fridge died one week before we were taking our grandkids on a month long camping trip. We chose this unit for its flexibility; refrigerator or freezer and the reviews of reliability on bumpy rough roads. It proved to be a life saver. It functioned exactly as written, maintained temp regardless of auto plug-in, or electrical 110. When we stopped in 100+ degree weather, it maintained a sufficiently cool temp. And it easily holds quart of milk, large orange juice, dozen eggs, 4-pint sized containers, 6-soda cans, 4-1/2 pint containers, with lots of room for veggies, lunch meats, hot dogs, cheeses, fruit, butter, every perishable we needed for 10 days at a time. When we returned home, our household freezer quit and we unloaded our large, over stuffed freezer into this unit and set the temp to zero. It took about 15 minutes to reach freezing and is holding our food at zero for days now, plugged into 110. We couldn’t be more delighted with this unit. It’s everything the manufacturer claims, and more‼️ Oh, our nearest Trader Joe’s is 1-1/2 hours away. We took it shopping in our car, filled it with frozen food, set the unit to freeze and drove home in 108 degree weather. Food frozen solid when we got home. I LOVE this unit! Well worth the money and all the various plugs are included. Yes. It’s super quite. I had to check it to be certain it was running. You won’t regret this purchase.

Energy Consumption Test
Just used this for a 3 week road trip. Overall, I am very happy with it. It performed very well and handled some light rain and direct sunlight with no issues. I dinged it one star because I received it with a small dent in the side and a couple of times the temperature seemed off (as an average of the entire compartment) and caused some items to freeze. It likely only has one thermometer and I'm not sure where it is located, but if you put something warm near it or leave the top open too long it can cause your items to freeze. I checked the energy consumption and found the following: *Test was performed inside (no direct sunlight) with an average ambient temperature of about 65°F. The fridge was empty and the lid was closed the entire time. - In ECO mode, the fridge consumed ~0.237 KWH per day - In MAX mode, the fridge consumed ~0.254 KWH per day (+ 6.6% more energy) I tested running on a 12v 1KWH battery and it ran for about 4 days. I graphed the energy usage and noticed that in MAX mode, more energy was consumed to bring the fridge to the set temperature, but that it ran for less time, so the additional energy usage is not much. I found myself using MAX during the initial cooling phase, and when the cooler had to fight warmer outside temperatures (especially when in the sun). Otherwise ECO seemed sufficient.

Worked, then warped, customer service sent a used, damaged replacement part
The C30 fridge works well, is reasonably quiet, and seems efficient. The temperature regulation is good, as long as there's something inside. The app is OK, although I don't really see the point. The magnetic catch secures the lid nicely. One of the magnets turns the interior light off just before the lid closes. This means you can prop the lid up an inch or so to allow some airflow when the fridge is off, without draining your battery or having to disconnect the power supply. Unfortunately after a couple of months the lid of the fridge warped upwards at the corners, as shown in the picture. The resulting gap is almost 4mm, enough that the lid gasket probably isn't sealing properly anymore. Time will tell whether the fridge works acceptably. An email to the Alpicool customer service address was apparently ignored. Update: The fridge with the warped lid does not seal properly. In use, a large amount of water condenses inside the fridge. Alpicool customer service did answer my email; I did not see their reply because it ended up my my spam folder. They agreed to send me a replacement cover. Unfortunately, they sent me a very used, very damaged replacement. The second two pictures show the condition of the part they sent me. The replacement is also warped, even more than the original. The upper part of the lid also appears to be separating from the inner part of the lid. In summary, the C30 seems mechanically OK, but the lid is either of poor design or poor choice of materials, and is prone to warping to the point that the fridge no longer closes properly. Given that their "fix" was to send me a piece of junk, I cannot recommend buying from Alpicool.

Look for edit! Works! I WOULD RECOMEND TO FAMILY & FRIENDS!
So, i see if my cooler about 5 days late. (not the cooler's or the manufacturer's fault totally on Amazon!) The item arrived damaged as the service cover was bent out of place, and it had a dent in the area of the vents on the other side. (Probably ups fault.) I did not receive my divider in my unit which is why I'm giving it three stars. I have to admit that I absolutely love this thing! It will freeze water bottles into ice in about a day especially if you put them around the perimeter against the sides. I keep the temperature set between 25 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I keep this in the back of my truck it has slid around and it has received quite a few more dents than it had when I got it. It's not overly loud and well I can't hear it while laying in the back of my truck oh, it does not wake me up ever when it runs. It does occasionally make Oddball noises but considering you have a refrigeration compressor riding around in the back of a truck being beat up by other tools Etc I have to say that's to be expected. I don't know if it's because I keep it set so low or I have a problem with my charging system, they did drain my battery one evening and I had to buy a jump start box to jump start my truck the next morning. I have since realized especially while keeping Frozen water bottles in it should I can actually turn it off overnight and the temperature only raises a degree or two. I've had it for a month and I have to say it's worth every penny I spent. It hasn't stopped or failed yet and I haven't been overly gentle with it. If you thinking about buying this I have to say go ahead and do it! If the manufacturer to contact me and make sure that I received my divider that was supposed to be in the unit I would consider changing my rating of 3 stars. Edit, 7/9/2020 So, i had this little guy in my truck, running every day. It never came out except to clean it, which is the only time it was ever off too. All through the sacramento summer heat it held its own, kept food & drink cold or frozen depending on how i had it set I have a huge stereo system with a dedicated alternator (350a) and 2 batteries (group 31 agm's) so i ended up getting a 2k/4k power invertor from harbor freight, and i ran it on the ac adaptor the whole time it was in the truck. IM DISAPPINTED TO SAY THAT MY 2ND FAVORITE TRUCK ACCESSORY IS NO LONGER WITH US. SAD PANDA :(. Just 2 days ago the temp was way warmer than it had ever been, even though it was set at 32 degrees. For a minute completed take it in and getting it fixed, then i remembered that I put the Asurion Warranty on it. I will do another update if there are any issues dealing with the warranty process thru asurion. Looks like I got to find another one now. The biggest of the alpicool freezers that is available is not able to ship to my location for some reason. Odd considering im in sacramento.

Works great so far...looks well made.
Got this car refrigerator because I like to bring my own food when I hit the road and It's great for when I go camping...no more ice bags that melt. I've had the fridge for about 2 weeks now and cycled the unit a few times buy cooling it and then unplugging it a letting it reach room temp. In max mode it takes about 30 min to reach my set temp of 20 deg F. I put a mercury thermometer inside to check the temperature and it seems to match the set temp on the digital display. I also power the unit with my ( Jackery 240 portable generator) 12 volt DC outlet and let the unit run over night...no issues. The stainless body looks better than plastic but I will make a cover from a moving blanket for insulation and protection. The inside has just enough room for my food and drinks , and it's very quiet when the compressor is running. I hope this fridge last a while because I really like it and didn't have to spend a lot of $$$. I will update the review after my long trip next month. ****UPDATE*** I've had the fridge for awhile now and have taken it on long trips continuously running for over 30 days with no issues. Like others...the plug assembly did break and come loose when I pulled the power plug. I pushed it back in and secured it with 2 tie wraps snugged against the case from the inside...problem solved. I made a cover from a moving blanket to keep it cool and protect it because it's mounted on the bed of my Tacoma and it does get hot inside the bed. (I have a truck cap on the bed). Great and easy project if you have a sewing machine. I also added a plexiglass divider to separate the 2 compartments...have local Hardware store cut it to size. Still VERY HAPPY with the fridge.
