no, this is the penultimate design for 1150 and 1151 cpu's, in the new redesign change the fastener for the IHS pressing screw.

Can this be used to delid an i9 7980xe? i wasn't sure if the chip needed to be specific lga 1150 & 1151 for this to work.

Hello and thank you for the question. The Rockit 88 will not work for delidding the i9 7980Xe as it is LGA 2066 and a MUCH larger CPU. I do make a delid and relid tool for the LGA 2066 but it is only available on the website for now.

Where can I find the tool for delid a i9 7940x?

Good luck dude that's scary stuff you should send it out to be delidded I know there's a couple of companies you'll have to Google them but if they break it the give you a new one haven't heard of anything going wrong
