Not for beginners and don't expect this to be just like any other saw you've used because......
This is a great product and gets the job done. Don't listen to all of the 4-star or less reviews. I noticed people complaining about the vibrations, the side-to-side movement of the blade, battery consumption, and incorrect angle of cut. Wake up people. The name of this tool is Sawzall. The power and RPMs required to cut through anything is A LOT! It will use battery power faster than a driver or circular saw. It's not possible to use this saw, in the manner you would use a regular saw. It requires practice or an experienced user. If it wasn't vibrating and hard to handle, it would be weak. Someone who complained about the incorrect way in which the blade moves against material needs to understand that the saw should be started before contact with its intended surface. Apply pressure to your material slowly as the blade is moving. The shoe guard is meant to give you control and allow you to rock the saw up and down as you cut. It's not meant to "lock down" as one reviewer complained about saying inability to "lock in on any given position". If it locked down, it would rip your arm off as you were cutting. It can get pulled right out of your grip.Dewalt is a fabulous product, and Dewalt would not have released something that was unsafe. The quality is unmatched by rivals. The cuts WILL be rough. Get over it. When you're trying to cut all the pipes and supply lines to a faucet from under the sink and they have not been changed in over 30 years, it works. Don't complain about the vibration. This tool is not for beginners. Use the right blade for the right project and let the saw do the work for you. Go slow.

DeWalt 20V max tools are the best
DeWalt 20V Max tools are the best. Absolutely incredible value for the $$$. The reciprocal saw is the pinnacle of DeWalt quality and comfort. I use this saw at least twice a week around the house and my two hunt properties. I cut down trees and tree limbs with it with ease. The only drawback is that it does deplete the battery quickly. I bought extra batteries and usually go into the woods with three fully charged batteries. But, for my old body, it sure beats using a chainsaw or hand saw to cut things down. it is a little heave, but that is because it is built like a tank. I expect this saw to last me for YEARS!

Excellent Tool
I bought this for a bathroom remodeling project and this saw is nothing less than awesome. It did an amazing job helping me cut through my old fiberglass tub and shower inserts. Very satisfied.

The Best Reciprocating Saw I Have Used
Absolutely fantastic! Light, yet sturdy, no cord, convenient and fast cutting. This is a huge win for any project where you don't have a plug nearby. The chuck design is excellent with super quick release blade exchange and no little screw to tighten with a special wrench (that always gets lost) as so many other reciprocating saws have. The blade stays in well and the front is adjustable for different tip length and angles. It cuts quick and stops immediately once you let go of the trigger which is a good safety feature. If you are already using DEWALT tools and have the batteries, getting the bare tool is a good cost saver. If you are new to DEWALT, it may be best to get one with the battery and charger, or if buying a battery separate, look for a minimum of 3AH battery. Less than that will run through really quick.

Decent tool, but some flaws
I recently got this tool to cut PVC and ABS pipes for a DIY project. The tool feels solid and well made, but it has a few pretty annoying problems:1. The blades do not lock in properly. I got DeWalt blades too. Once locked in, there's significant side-to-side play, as if the calipers do not fully tighten over the blade in the locked position. That seems to me like a pretty major flaw, since at high speed the back-and-forth motion of the saw can easily push the blade sideways and snap it. I don't know what the folks at Dewalt were thinking.. maybe they designed the saw for thicker blades and the recent ones they sell are just not thick enough (cost savings??) resulting in this arguably unsafe condition.2. The angle of attack seems wrong. If you look closely at the photos, you can see that the blade installs at a certain angle relative to the axis of motion, which means it is not possible to use this saw like one would use a manual saw , where the teeth move back and forth perfectly along the saw's axis of motion. Instead, the teeth move away from the material when the blade pushes forward, and subsequently they hit and bite into the material at an angle when the blade pulls back. This introduces more vibration than necessary and makes the cuts rougher than they would be otherwise if the blade teeth were to simply move back and forth along the axis of motion.3. The shoe at the tip is flimsy. There is a metal shoe at the tip that allows the saw body to push against and align with the material for a 90 degree cut. This shoe swivels up-down, but it's not possible to "lock" it in any given position. It will swivel while cutting, as one moves the saw along the material. I don't see the point of this. It introduces yet another point of instability during cuts, in addition to the side-to-side blade play.

Best “saws all” you’ll find
I loved mine so much I bought one for a family member. The saw is sturdy without being too heavy, extremely well made, and cuts literally anything with ease. Mine has been dropped, covered in dirt and mud, and still works like new.

Don’t underestimate battery power
This DeWalt tool is a beast! First sawzall I’ve owned that is battery powered and I had my doubts. But this saw has more than enough power to get any job done. Also, the blade chuck allows the user to install the blade vertically or horizontally. Finally, the blade chuck is no lightweight either. Very strong and well designed. HIGHLY recommend this one!
