Changing Minds
This book does a good job in overviewing some of the common misconceptions regarding climate change. It is written at a level that most non-scientists will be able to understand. One comment I have regarding skeptics that state "I don't believe in Climate Change" .. answer is it is not a religion. One thing I did note in the book, should it go to a second edition.. is that the authors note the background value for CO2 as being 230 ppm before the industrial revolution and I believe that the more accepted value is 280 ppm.. I suspect this was a typo. In any case, we as a species are changing our environment and the planet. The atmosphere is one thing that we take for granted and in many cases, both climate change and air quality issues, are all related to our increasing populations and energy usage increasing at an even higher rate due to folks wanting to live comfortably with air conditioning, heating, etc. That said, we do need to begin to start recognizing that these resources are not inexhaustible. In deed, the movement towards more sustainable energy that does not involve combustion processes is something that we will need to do soon, if were going to be able to maintain the species on the planet, and have that population live well. Problem is that special interests and politics all operate on short time scales - and once we have changed our atmosphere rapidly - which is what were doing.. it takes a long time for it to recuperate. It would be good for our future generations if we were to develop longer term view points on many issues, and climate change is one of them. that is connected to water and energy and food sources. In any case, an easy read for most non-scientists and recommended. We do need to stop the arguing and start working towards a better way of living with the recognition that our resources are limited and as we use them up will continue to be come more expensive.

A perfect book for AGW 'skeptics' to read.
An easily readable book listing and refuting all the arguments proffered by AGW deniers (and a few I haven't previously come across). The science of climatology is summarised in a perfectly adequate manner suitable for any reader with little physics. 'Skeptics' - take note; AGW is happening. If you still want to debate the issue, then come up with other counter arguments. Or prove that the authors' arguments against the tired and often repeated claims of deniers are incorrect.

Great for a surface understanding
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to silence climate skeptics. It has simple easy to understand explanations for arguments uninformed students, and even adults make on the topic. It also contains many up to date statistics and graphs to further drive home the points. Best of all it addresses solutions for how one can tackle this problem in today’s world through things any one can do to things the governments can do. It is also written with witty prose and good scientific credibility. It's a great way to delve into the debate about our climate.

Climate science from Square One
This is a first look at climate change, written for anyone with a mind to care a bit. I found it very refreshing, as it draws together major developments since I read a similar level book twenty years or so ago. From here, one can go on to find meatier papers in Scientific American or myriad professional releases. Well worth reading.

Very good. Low key
Very good. Low key, constant reference to deniers (w/o throwing rocks), should be an effective way to slip through the door of the closed minded citizen. Having authors aligned with government energy instead of "for hire" thunk tankers could make a healthy difference. I'm afraid it will fall short however, of lighting off an Energy Manhattan Project for the 21st century.

A very succinct and useful guide to climate change
Changing minds on this subject is really difficult but I credit Seth Darling for a great effort here. There's a great deal of useful information in a fairly small (about 200 pages)and inexpensive book . It consists of 15 chapters each covering a talking point of the denial crowd, e.g. Chapter 11 explains why climate change is not simply due to nature. After reading How to Change Minds the reader should be more ready to argue with his/her conservative, climate change denying friends.
