Swanson Hydrochloric Acid w/Pepsin 250 Capsules

This really works wonders. I took it daily for a few months, started with 1 then and it didn't do anything so I went on to 3 I believe then brought it down to 2 and then to 1. I have not taken the pills now in months and the heartburn was completely gone for months. It seems it's slowly coming back but not to the point where I have to take the pills again. I don't take the Omeprazole which has terrible side effects and I gave this a try when I read an article that states new studies have found heartburn is due to lack of acid in your stomach as opposed to what the Dr's tell you that it's excess acid and the article referenced hydrochloric acid and of course I bought it to give it a try and low and behold that was the solution. SO VERY thankful for this item. Highly recommend. I have heaving heartburn day and night and it was terrible. Now I have no issues.

Have to say, I really didn’t think this would work. Only ordered it to appease husband. THANK GOODNESS! This works soooo soooo great! Took a day or three of using. Will not be without this because it works so good!!

This is a helpful product for many people however it was a little too strong for my needs - which is just a sometimes sluggish digestion. I would take 1 capsule of these with a meal (containing meat) and sometimes if I didn't drink plenty of water with it OR if I took it too close to bedtime, I would wake up with a slightly nauseous stomach (not fun at 2am.) This product contains 325 mg of Betaine HCL per capsule, along with Pepsin. Hydrochloric Acid is actually a component of our gastric juices but as we age or take certain meds or whatever, our body doesn't make it sufficiently so then we can get a digestive situation where we might burp a lot or get acid reflux or a full feeling after eating very little. I think a little Hydrochloric Acid can help with this but we need to find our own personal optimal dosage. In the past I've taken a Swanson product called Digestive Enzymes which contained only 5 mg of Betaine HCL and that never gave me problems, so I'll most likely return to that. There's also a really popular enzyme product by NOW called Super Enzymes and that contains 200 mg of Betaine HCL which I've taken successfully. I'm not sure why I decided to up the dosage but I now know 325 mg is too much for my own needs.

Gentle. I only take one when I have included meat or cheese in a meal because I am on protein pump inhibitors. I never have stomach pain from it

Swanson is the only company that I know that sells this product and I’m so glad that I found it. I had stomach upset day after day and I was downing Tums and Pepsid constantly. I read that often, as people age, they don’t have enough stomach acid it properly digest their food, which is why I decided to try this supplement. After taking it for a while I didn’t have stomach aches any more, but I kept taking it. Finally, I ran out and I still felt great. I don’t know how long i needed to take it because I just kept it up for months. This is well over a couple of years later and I’m experiencing slight stomach discomfort, so I’m trying it again.

This product made my heartburn worse. I had to go back to omeprazol to control my gerd.

I had been on the Keto diet for 4 months and lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, I also lost a big patch of hair. My dermatologist said that can happen after a very rapid weight loss.
