Microwave safe? What? This needs fixed. Two years later says microwave safe and though many know no metal in microwave, there are people who don’t!

No metal in microwave is simply ignorant. You can put metal in many, if not all modern microwaves. It depends on the metal and your microwave. Most allow metal susceptors (popcorn bags, hot pockets, pizzas, etc.) and also aluminum foil. Always consult the owners manual of the microwave oven first.

Will the lid hold the food in place if the tray is stored sideways in a backpack.

Yes it will. It’s very tight fitting. My daughter uses it in the same way with a backpack.
