buy without hesitation - great product!
This is not a 100% perfect item and the negatives in some of the other reviews are valid (in terms of the pieces being difficult to separate at first and some of them are hard to stick together), but nonetheless, at thirty bucks, this is an amazing buy and well worth it. My 2.5 year old (who is a little too young to get the full value) and I are having so much fun -- creating not only letters, but also shapes, hats, railroad tracks, circles to jump in, etc. These are also great to explore color/mixing of colors (ideal if you have a light box?)...and are super fun in the bathtub. If your child learns through doing things (rather than just seeing or listening), this is a great way to reinforce letters...but is also just a fun spin on building blocks/legos/etc. I'm amazed at the creative ways my toddler has used these and really think the possibilities are endless. They also seem to be very durable and of great quality. There are a lot of pieces (the box is heavy).

Great teaching tool to help my preschooler visualize how to ...
Great teaching tool to help my preschooler visualize how to create letters. Also, enjoyed using them for creative building. Only dislike is that the connection joints are small and hard to push together for younger hands, as my son got older he was better able to do it independently.

Great product with a few faults
My soon to be 3 year old son is obsessed with the alphabet. He was trying to make the letters using craft/Popsicle sticks and getting frustrated at not being able to make the letters that required curves. Pipe cleaners for the curved part just weren't good enough. He loves wikki sticks and does reasonably well with them but it still requires a level of expertise that he is just physically not able to achieve yet. Hence my decision to by this product. He loves them and can follow the directions on the cards to make the letters. My complaints with this product is 1) Not all the pieces snap together very well, some keep coming apart even when I use my adult fingers to press them together. 2) The product clearly states there are 88 pieces and that up to 4 students can build the same letter simultaneously. What it does not clearly state is that following the cards it is impossible to make either the upper or lowercase alphabet in complete form from A-Z. This is very frustrating when your child has spent a long time diligently following instructions only to run into problems toward the end. You can make as far as W in the lowercase, and R in the uppercase. Using our own improvisation we did manage to make a complete alphabet by mixing both upper and lowercase letters together and substituting different lengths. Not however what I would expect to have to do. Whilst this might enhance creativity in the long run I would like him to be able to complete the alphabet following the card instructions. I called the company to see if I could buy additional pieces without purchasing a whole new set. They could not help, but did offer a 10% discount and free shipping. This was not acceptable as there original price was $39.99 as opposed to Amazon $27.99. I am trying to decide if I will purchase a second set through Amazon. I probably will just because my son is so into them. The other thing to mention about this set ( which I was already aware of from the photo) is that the set is large. Each uppercase letter is about 10 inches high which can take up a lot of floor space. This also means that storing a complete second set is going to require a lot more space than if I could have just bought the pieces we needed to complete the alphabet.

Two Stars
Pieces are difficult to put together, I would not purchase it again.

Large, bright, exciting!
I purchased these to use with my four year old and my Kindergarten students. They are very sturdy and fun to use. The task cards are a nice bonus, showing how to construct each letter. My daughter also enjoys building shapes with the pieces, and making words. The pieces are much larger than I expected, great for little hands. Love this set!

For classroom Use
I teach special education, and this was a very easy way to demonstrate letter formation to children who have much difficulty with writing even their name. Also, with those children who showed difficulty with one letter in their name (a common occurrance), I could show them the correct formation using these materials. These materials DO require adult to child instruction as the children do not understand what to do with them without this help.

Fun but not amazing
Nice but it's so hard to get the shapes apart at first. Not all the letters look like letters to me. Fun to play with the shapes and letters on a light table. I don't know if it's amazing yet.

Good product, but a few issues...
My five year old is OBSESSED with the alphabet and with building toys. I saw this product on one of the homeschooling blogs I read, and had to have it. It's great for working fine motor skills as well as letter / number / shape recognition, plus general imaginative building. I do have a few issues with this product though... Even though the box says there are enough pieces for four children to build the same letter at once, there are not enough pieces to build the entire alphabet at one time. We bought a second set, and even then there weren't enough pieces to build both the upper and lowercase alphabets simultaneously. My other problem is that the pieces can be hard to snap together for small fingers, or that even when snapped by an adult, the pieces don't always stay together well.
