I'm impressed! In fact, we liked the first one so well, we ordered all three versions, plus another 5471K for my collection. These are excellent "flipper" knives that will find their way into my everyday rotation. In fact, my wife immediately confiscated one for herself!These knives have a distinctive and impressive appearance, quite unlike anything else I own or have seen. My personal favorite is the black 5471K with partial serrations, but each model has its own appeal, and I'm liking all three of them.The knives arrived shaving-sharp, right from the box, and in every case, I cannot find fault with any of the four knives delivered to me--they're that good. The blade lies straight between the liners when closed, and there is no wiggle in the locked-open blade. Deployment is as slick as you could ask for with that ball bearing pivot--one flick of my index finger and the blade snaps open with a satisfying click. This is the slickest flipper I have, and these knives present well.A liner lock releases the blade to close it, where it swings freely into the handle until it's assisted by a spring tension so slick, that at first I thought there was a magnet in the spine of the knife, holding the blade closed. Again, Slick!The pocket clip is well-designed, with enough "gap" to work well with jeans pockets. It works well enough for me.The grips are a tad skinny for my large hands, but I've encountered this before and I won't deduct a star on that account; that subjective observation aside, I like everything about these knives, and they offer a lot of bang-for-the-buck. They're substantial feeling knives, and not feather-light by any means, but I rather like the added heft in this case. These knives have a "quality feel" to them.Note: While I've returned SOG, Benchmade, and Cold Steel knives these past months for substandard workmanship, these knives aren't going anywhere--the workmanship is great.Now, the blade isn't fashioned from the top-end of blade steels, but it ought to be plenty for light daily duty, or God forbid, personal defense. The routine use of a quality sharpener, such as the Lansky PS-MED01 BladeMedic (see my review) will help keep your new blade seriously sharp. I also like to lube my knife mechanisms and treat my blades with TUF-GLIDE.This is a new brand for us, and I have to say, I'm impressed! If you want a serious, distinctive and impressive looking pocket knife that won't break your piggy bank, or give you a heart attack should you lose or break it, give this line of CRKT knives a look-see (in particular the 5471K). I doubt they will disappoint!RayB

When I opened the box and held the knife in my hand for the very first time, I thought "Damn those scales have sharp edges." And they do. When its new, it has a lot of tiny sharp pointy edges where the scales were machine cut. Fortunately they wear down and smooth out and the knife is very comfortable in my hand now.The blade is very impressive. I bought the big one to replace a CRKT M16 that I carried for 16 years and gave to my nephew. I wanted a little flash and like you, loved the look of this knife.But the handsomeness of the weapon is nothing compared to how robust this monster folder is. I actually considered buying a belt sheath for it and carrying it open in the sheath. It would look awesome carried like that.The blade is thick, like industrial thick, but the grind is a flat taper that starts about halfway down from the top of the steel. Gimping is short, sharp and works well. I polished the tapered section my blade with some rouge with my power drill and man is it gorgeous. The bearings are silky smooth and the blade pops into position with a nice, masculine thunk.The design of the handle, the ergonomics of it, is excellent. If you ever have to fight someone with this knife, it will serve you very well. Your grip will remain strong and stabilized, even if wet, and the heel of the handle will concentrate a decisive punch to any boney mass.This knife looks like an art piece, but its really a working knife. I can see it getting a lot of use around the farm, and riding in the pocket into town that night, ready to dazzle the lesser mortals who flip Spyderco's.The one bad decision CRKT made was the belt clip. I have enjoyed Coke's that came in stronger aluminum than the steel used for this belt clip. Its like a bad joke. I can easily, almost without effort, bend it. My one-year old can bend it. Seriously. CHEAP. How that clip ever made it out of design approval I will never know, but CRKT owes all owners a free upgrade. And CRKT, if you don't know how to make a good clip, ask Kershaw to make one for you. I have three of theirs and they are all grade A. Yours is a C-. D, really. Yours is the mere idea of a clip. Kershaw gives us the reality of a strong clip, properly designed.
