本来は業務用カムコーダーに接続して使用するマイクですが、テレワークのTeams会議用のマイクとしてXLRマイク入力端子付きのUSBオーディオインターフェース（Shure社X2u）経由でPCに接続して使用しています。この用途のマイクとしても非常におすすめです。ダイナミック型ボーカルマイク（Shure SM58）やコンデンサ型マイク（AT2020）も持っていますがそれらと比べて指向性が鋭いためより離れた場所から十分な音量で明瞭な音声を拾います。使い始めたときマイク→口→冷蔵庫の方向に向けていたため冷蔵庫のコンプレッサーの音までよく拾いましたが、冷蔵庫のない方向に向きを変えたら声だけ拾うようになりました。指向性が鋭いので非常に使いやすいです。Teams会議の相手からも極めて音声がクリアで聞きやすいと好評です。 ボディは金属製で堅牢です。ケーブルはマイクと一体型なので断線の際は修理に出す必要があります。業務用カムコーダーの保守パーツなので取説もなくプチプチで包んだものが素っ気ない段ボールで届きます。そのぶん安いので机の上に出しっぱなしでガシガシ使えます。スポンジの風防が付いているので埃よけに付けたままにしています。

自分はRoland社のR-44に繋いで野外録音をしました。 Roland社とSONYは相性がいいのか分からず、博打感覚でこの商品を買いました。 野外録音してみると、かなり遠くの音まで拾いました！ 河川敷で、反対側の子供達の声まで拾うくらいバッチリでした！ 距離は、75メートル以上離れてるにもかかわらずです！ 本当にいい商品だと心から感謝しました！

This thing is great so far. Sounds great. Small and perfect for my A7sIII (With audio handle). Great price. Just hoping the lack of removable XLR doesn't cause issues down the line. Perfect for what it is.

J'ai été franchement étonné par la qualité de ce microphone Sony ECM-XM1. D'abord par le réalisme du rendu sonore: les sons enregistrés, que ce soit des sons d'ambiance, des voix (pour commentaires de films) ou des instruments de musique en acoustique, tous sont d'une grande pureté.J'ai été aussi étonné de ne pas avoir de pompage lorsque j'ai enregistré des instruments de percussion tout en restant en automatique. En conclusion voilà un excellent micro qui convient parfaitement à des enregistrements sur caméra vidéo.
