This is the second time that I ordered this shoe from Amazon. The first shoe size was ordered was based on my actual shoe size and width. I'm trying to remember when I placed the order if there was a line item that said order your regular shoe size. Anyway, I ordered size 10 in wide. When the shoes arrived, I tried them on and found out that they didn't fit. The length and width didn't fit. I then returned the shoe, had the credit card reimbursed and re-ordered size 11 W. I was considering returning the shoes as they felt heavy when I first picked one shoe up. I believe that one shoe weighs about 2# 6 oz., slightly heavier than shoes I ordered before. Rather than go through this process again, I decided to keep the shoes. I'm hoping that they break in without too much time and effort. I'm also hoping that I can get used to the weight.

First, I have to say this is my 4th pair of these, so I figured it was time to write a review on them. For the price, I do not think there's a better boot out there. Maybe you could do better at higher price points, but I think you would be hard pressed to find one. These last me about a year, but there's a reason for that. I'm always on my feet and I work two jobs. So I'm putting in 60+ hours a week on these, so I believe I am more than getting my money's worth out of them. Everyone's feet are different, but personally, every time I've put on a new pair of these, they've been comfortable right out of the box, no break-in time. On past boots, one of the biggest problems I had was the laces would fail, on just about every pair I tried. I've never had to replace the laces on these. They last the life of the shoe. These have only one flaw that I know of, and that is the standard insole usually needs to be replaced around 6 months in. I don't know if you can consider that a flaw though, since I don't know of a shoe that you don't eventually need to replace the insole in, if you haven't from the get-go, depending on the needs of your feet.

i love the pitboss'. theyre a little heavy but not too bad for a steel toe. i love the that they come wide, makes the steel toe comfortable. this is my third pair and still cant find any better. i work 10-12 hr days and these are as comfortable as boots can be made. Update: i have had 3 pairs of these boots, and these still remain the best boots I've ever bought... i still have my original pair that i keep in my jeep as a spare and theyre durable, reliable and comfortable, ive just run them down to the foam. I have also managed to have all three colors, brown was my favorite then black then carmel... the brown weears down better and is hard to get dirty in comparison to the black where the scratches show and also takes a while to look worn in, carmels are my least favorite, theyre great for summer construction but they get water stained easily and dirty and that dirt doesnt come out. I get theyre work boots and meant to be dirty but for me as a jobsite super i feel as if i need to have at least presentable boots.

I bought a pair of these about 17 years ago and I loved them. They broke in well and held up to daily wear at a busy lumberyard, working both outside and in, during all kinds of weather. They spent most of the last 14 years in my closet due to a job change but I would still wear them occasionally. Unfortunately this past year the foam soles just disintegrated making them unwearable. I still needed a pair of boots so I bought another seemingly identical pair from Amazon in the same wide width my feet need. The new ones are serviceable but they definitely seem cheaper and not constructed as well as my originals were. One of the soles is even slightly (but noticeably) crooked where it attaches to the upper. And for a 2E 'wide' width they seem awfully narrow, but my feet may just be used to my old broken-in boots and the hiking sneakers I wear all the time now. That said, I'm still keeping them and I'm trying to wear them to break them in but I can't say I'm in love with them like I was my first pair.
