Collector Appeal with Kid-Friendly Play Value. I purchased the Polly Pocket Collector’s Edition – Stranger Things set as both a collectible and a play item. Being born in 1990, I got a good taste of the 80s culture without being born in the era, and I experienced/lived through all the 90s culture. Polly Pocket was my world (just like all the other endlessly fun 80s/90s toys). There’s just nothing like those vintage sets. Like many kids of those years my large collection of Polly’s left me decades ago (regrettably now). When the new Collector’s Edition Polly’s started to be released a handful of years back —basically re-creating those same sets from my childhood in new collectible boxes— I knew I just had to start collecting them. Stranger Things has been an on and off part of my world for nearly a decade now (as it has for lots of fans!) Seeing these two things collaborate together was so exciting- I knew I had to have this one. My son is 8, and about 6-8 months ago I started letting him watch Stranger Things, knowing the last season was quickly approaching. He fell in love and now it has become another thing we enjoy together (including going to the theaters to see the last episode). When I ordered this item, I told him that it was MOSTLY to be kept as a collectible but that with monitoring I would occasionally let him play with it. Since we received it I’ve allowed him to play with it a couple times, basically on the rare occasion when he asks, and ONLY if I removed it and put it back in the box. The overall make and idea of this compact is awesome. Polly’s also have the old school body mold, and all collectors of Polly know that the old body mold is where it’s at! From my perspective as a collector: The design captures the classic Polly Pocket style while incorporating recognizable details from the series- has two different sides: The Right-side up and The Upside Down. The compact case (made to look like a handheld radio) is well made, opens and closes smoothly, and is durable enough for light handling. The inside is very thoughtful, with uniquely awesome and easily distinguishable show characteristics. It is visually appealing, making it a great display piece. Packaging is clean and presentation-ready, the outside of the box is printed with various characters and looks great as a display piece even without removing the compact from the box. From my sons play perspective (and mine too): My son enjoyed exploring the mini scenes and accessories right away- he absolutely loved the characters but really thought the bikes were awesome! I definitely agreed, thinking that the bikes especially are very unique, and not as typical for a Polly set. The pieces are easy to handle, and overall encourages imaginative play. Everything fits back into the case, which helps with organization and storage. No issues with the compact not closing due to play, pieces breaking easily, etc. Overall Assessment: This set has a PERFECT balance between collectible quality and playability. It offers strong nostalgic appeal for collectors while still being engaging and usable for kids. It should be considered a well-designed crossover that delivers value for both audiences, in a range of ages! If you love vintage Polly Pocket, live for Stranger Things, or grew up in the 80s and 90s- This is a must have collectible for you!

Seit ich ein kleines Kind war, habe ich auf Flohmärkten immer gerne nach Polly Pocket gesucht. Als ich dann gesehen habe, dass es von meiner Lieblingsserie ein Polly Pocket Set gibt, konnte ich nicht widerstehen. Das Stranger Things-Polly Pocket-Set hat mich von der ersten Sekunde an in den Bann gezogen. Die Aufmachung der Box, auf der die Charaktere zu sehen sind, ist wunderschön. Das Set selbst ist in einer Plastikbox für Sammler. Wenn man alles ausgepackt hat, hält man ein Walkie Talkie in den Händen, das wie in der Serie etwas mitgenommen aussieht. Die Figuren findet man im Videorecorder, was eine so witzige und schöne Möglichkeit ist, die Figuren zu verwahren. Die Figuren sind detailliert und schön dargestellt. Elfie hat ihre Perrücke und die Waffeln, die Jungs haben ihre Fahrräder und Walkie Talkies und natürlich darf der Demogorgon nicht fehlen. Wenn man das Walkie Talkie öffnet, hat man Hawkins und die Schattenwelt vor sich. Beide sehen ähnlich aus und man kann die Schule öffnen. Durch die Tafel gelangt der Demogorgon nach Hawkins oder die Schüler in die Schattenwelt. Das Bayers Haus kann man nur in der normalen Welt öffnen. Die Gestaltung des Sets und der Verpackung sind einfach nur schön und mit Liebe gemacht. Ich finde den Preis durchaus angemessen und würde das Set jeder Zeit wieder kaufen.
