My Border Collie Loves this RC 4x4
I was at the park and saw a guy with his border collies and they were chasing a remote control car. I thought it was a brilliant way to get my own border collie exercise. I haven't bought an RC in decades (from Radio Shack) and was really nervous about speed and quality. This car far exceeded my expectations and my dog LOVES it. Speed - very fast, I am so surprised. Battery - fantastic. I haven't timed it but it lasted longer than my dog and that's all I needed. East of use - took me no time at all to figure out how to load up the batteries, sync the remote, get a feel for the steering and throttle. Durability - I've been banging it against trees, rocks, outdoor furniture, etc. as well as a very happy border collie running chasing it down and biting at the wheels and ZERO issues. I can't believe how well this car is holding up. Off Road (what I really wanted it for) - I am so surprised at how well it runs on grass, rocks and larger rocks. It flips pretty easily due to the size but honestly, once you get used to what makes it flip, you simply slow down. Great car at a great price. I don't even need the second battery but really like that it came with one. Highly recommend. I'd post a video but I'm having too much fun running it with my dog to stop and mess with the phone.

A blast for the money
The media could not be loaded. A fun, fast little basher for driveways, dirt lots, and short grass. It feels way more powerful than toy-grade RC, but it’s still a budget rig under the skin. Expect legit smiles, ~30–40 minutes of total run time from both batteries combined, and some wrenching if you cartwheel it often. Great starter truck for kids and curious adults; mod-friendly if you want to tinker.⸻What feels greatSpeed & punch:The “40 km/h” claim is marketing on perfectly flat pavement with a fresh pack. In real life I clocked mine closer to the high 20s to low 30s km/h (around 18–20 mph) on asphalt and a little less on grass. That’s still quick for 1:18 scale—fast enough to rooster-tail dirt and demand some throttle discipline.4WD traction:Because it’s 4×4 with a low center of gravity, it pulls out of loose gravel and dusty corners without instantly spinning out. On packed dirt and short grass it’s eager and predictable. You can even throw small jumps; it’ll nose-down a bit, but a blip of throttle in the air straightens it out.2.4 GHz radio:No interference, no visible antenna wire to snap off, and decent range. I had reliable control out to half a soccer field plus. Latency is fine; steering isn’t race-precise, but for a basher it’s totally usable. Two batteries included:This is the big value play. Each 7.4 V pack (usually a Li-ion or small LiPo) gave me ~15–20 minutes of mixed driving. Swap in the second pack and you’re at 30–40 minutes per outing. Charge times on the included USB charger are a couple of hours per pack—normal for this price.Splash-proof electronics:You can run through wet grass and shallow puddles without panic. I sprayed mine off lightly and let it dry—no drama. Just don’t treat “waterproof” as “submersible.”⸻Where it shows the priceSuspension & handling:Out of the box, the shocks are usually spring-only “friction” units (not oil-filled). They work, but they can bounce on repeated bumps and landings. It’s fun but a little pogo-stick-y. If the seller offers oil-filled shocks as an accessory, they’re worth it for better damping.Steering parts & links:Most 1:18s in this bracket use plastic steering links and knuckles. They’re surprisingly tough, but a sideways curb hit can pop a link or strip a servo saver. These are cheap fixes; just know that hard impacts lead to garage time.Gears & motor:It’s typically a brushed 380/390 motor with a combo ESC/receiver unit. Plenty of torque, but brushed motors run warm—give it a cooldown between packs. The drivetrain is mostly plastic gears; keep rocks out of the spur/pinion area and you’ll be fine. If you hear gritty noises, stop and clean.Battery & charger quality:The included USB charger is slow and barebones. It works, but I recommend a proper balance charger if your packs are LiPo. Also, the stated mAh on no-name packs can be… optimistic. Your ~15–20 minutes per pack is the realistic expectation.Spare parts availability:Because there’s no big brand name, parts support varies by listing. Check whether the seller lists arms, hubs, spur gears, and bodies. If they do, you’re golden. If not, you’ll be hunting compatible parts across similar 1:18 platforms.⸻Real-world performance notes• Pavement: Fast and tidy. It’ll traction-roll if you yank the wheel at full tilt; add a tiny bit of toe-in if it’s twitchy and consider thicker shock grease or oil-shock upgrade.• Short grass: Still fun. Top speed drops a bit but the 4WD keeps it moving. Tall or wet grass saps runtime fast.• Dirt & gravel: The sweet spot. It slides, hooks up, and throws stones. Put a bit of tape over the body vents or a mesh to keep pebbles out of the spur gear area.• Jumps: Fine for curbs and 1–2 foot ramps. Land nose-first and you’ll find the limits of plastic hubs. Land flat and it copes well.⸻Durability after “oops” moments• Rollovers at speed: Scuffs the body and may pop a steering link. 2-minute fix.• Direct curb hit: Possible bent dogbone or cracked hub. Cheap part, minor downtime.• Water play: Splashing is okay; dunking isn’t. Dry it and give the bearings a dab of light oil afterward.⸻Who should buy it (and who shouldn’t)Buy it if…• You want a legit step up from toy RC without spending hobby-grade money.• You’re okay with occasional repairs and learning basic maintenance.• You like the idea of two batteries in the box and quick-to-fun setup.Skip it if…• You want race-car precision, aluminum bits, and oil shocks out of the box.• You need guaranteed parts support from a known brand.• You plan to run in deep water, long grass, or on BMX-sized jumps every day.⸻Tips to get the most out of it1. Thread-lock the metal-into-metal screws (like pinion grubs) so they don’t back out.2. Shim the spur/pinion mesh if you hear excessive whine or clicking; a small paper test works: you should feel a faint tick of play.3. Let the motor cool 10–15 minutes between packs to extend its life.4. Upgrade priorities: Oil-filled shocks → better tires (if you drive mostly on one surface) → a real balance charger.5. Keep a spares kit: Front/rear hubs, a set of dogbones, and one spare spur gear will rescue 90% of “day-ender” breaks.⸻The bottom lineFor the money, this 1:18 4×4 is a blast. It’s quick enough to be exciting, tough enough for beginner mistakes, and the two batteries make it feel like a complete package. Just remember it’s a budget basher: treat the “waterproof” claim as splash-proof, expect real-world speeds a notch under the headline number, and be ready to wrench a little. Do that, and you’ll have a grin-inducing mini-monster that earns its keep.

Looks Can Be Deceiving...
At this price-point, there are much better options available. This item has paper-thin plastic body with printed graphics. The body of the toy is extremely thin, weak, flimsy like disposable plastic packaging material, and bends with just a soft touch like the very thin kind of plastic used in disposable transparent plastic packaging at the supermarket. In my opinion, this is not acceptable toy design at this price-point. Carefully examining the chassis of the underbody also shows very low-quality plastic material that has a very low-polymer-density, and low-quality polymer plastic--a very brittle kind of plastic that will likely break or snap upon the first time the vehicle collides with something during normal play indoors or outdoors. The "suspension" of the wheels has very weak response due to super-soft, super weak springs, with about the same "springiness" as the fine-wire spring inside a ball-point pen, if you know what I mean. This is not a well-designed RC toy, even at this price-point. The battery system is lower quality than other batteries and charging USB set-ups I've seen on the market at this price-point.I recently purchased one of those RC tumbling vehicles that can flip, rotate, spin in circles, and go super fast in linear travel for half the price of this item, and the quality of that other toy is much better, in my opinion. The remote control of this item seems very weak, as I'm concerned if the trigger mechanism that activates the vehicle will continue to operate for more than one play time--it does not appear sturdy or rugged for use in a toy application. I've seen more heavy-duty remote controls at this price-point, and even the aforementioned toy that cost about half as much as this toy offers a much better remote control design, albeit with similar material construction, but a much better mechanical design overall than this toy.One last thing to point out about this toy is the tires look cool, but the wheels seem to be very weakly attached at the joints--there's lots of wobble and "play" in the front wheels, and due to the insufficient mechanical design, the front wheels could literally separate or just fall off the chassis during normal kind of play, especially if a wheel collides with something during normal play. All in all, the toy may look cool on a computer screen, but the actual item is very disappointing, especially at this price-point. I hope this review is helpful...

Fun and Easy-to-Use RC Car
This RC car is really fun and easy to use. It comes mostly assembled, so setup is simple and quick. The controls are smooth and responsive, allowing forward, reverse, and braking easily. It runs fast and works well on different surfaces like grass, gravel, and concrete. With two rechargeable batteries, playtime is long. Great quality and perfect for both kids and adults.
