what size log can this handle?

Not an easy answer. I use Pine Tree Farms “Nutsie” seed log which weighs 40 ounces; and I use Pine Tree Farms “Fruitberry Nut” seed log which weighs 28 ounces. Even though there is a 12 ounce weight difference, they are the exact same size. I guess the best answer would be that the containers are 7 inches high and measure 4-3/4 inches across the top. I hope this is helpful. The woodpeckers love them.

does it have a post to go through center opening ?

Unscrew the top with the loop then take copper top off then you will find a post throughout the whole thing butt…it’s already rusting on me and I will have to look for something else soon before it starts to snow…hope this helps…

How big of a cylinder seed log does this hold/fit?

I use both 40-ounce and 28-ounce seed logs. Despite the weight difference, they are the same size. The seed log containers measure 7-inches high and 4-3/4 inches across the top. Hope this helps.

Will this feeder stop the mourning doves to get to the food?

Probably not, though mourning doves mostly feed on the ground. The problem with this feeder (& I’ve bought 2) is that the screw connecting the top lid to the hook is so short that the feeder comes apart under a squirrel’s weight.
