Yerba mate Cruz de Malta is the BEST Yerba mate period! I have been their loyal costumer since 1997, 27 years…yep! It all started when I moved to live here and I learned that they didn’t sell Yerba mate in the Supermarkets! So I wrote an email to Cruz de Malta in Argentina and asked if there was anyway I could order it directly from them or if they could tell me where to buy it near me. A very nice lady answered my email letting me know that I couldn’t buy it anywhere around my area and that sadly they couldn’t directly ship it to me either. I was so sad to hear that because I couldn’t drink coffee and mate was what I drank every morning. Cruz de Malta team understood how homesick I was feeling not being able to find mate anywhere close to where I reside. But showed me they cared and surprised me with a gift of a large box with yerba mate in the mail 🥹 I was beyond excited and literally felt hugged! From that day forward I understood that Cruz de Malta company is more than a business! See, mate is “shared” with friends and strangers but mate is more than a drink! When we share a mate with someone else we are sharing a moment, living an experience, welcoming someone to our homes, we sometimes even share it with a stranger. Making mate is a ritual! Now about today’s experience, Cruz de Malta did it again through Amazon. Now days I can find Yerba mate near me where I reside and I always buy Cruz de Malta brand. Yesterday, I went out of town and forgot to pack my yerba mate tea although I did pack my gourd and bombilla🧉! I thought what now? I need my morning mate or else I can’t function 😅 So I am a loyal Amazon Prime customer and thought I could probably get yerba mate shipped to the hotel I’m staying and get it in a couple of days. Well, I was blown away by Amazon when at checkout I was offered a next day shipping for a couple of dollars more! I couldn’t believe I was going to be able to drink my morning mate the very next day! About Cruz de Malta yerba mate, I read a few reviews that complained about the “ bitterness” and “dust”, it made me smile, because some people just don’t take the time to learn about something but they just complain about it. I will suggest you Google how to make a good mate first. It is very simple to do. And for those who don’t know about yerba mate brands. Cruz de Malta is a top notch brand since 1874. It is a herb that believes in the authenticity of taste and quality…” Here are a few tips I found online to help out others that would like to make mate: 🧉💕 Prepare Yerba Mate with a Gourd and Bombilla 1. Fill a yerba mate gourd ⅔ with loose yerba mate. 2. Tap the loose yerba mate to one side to create a pit. 3. Moisten the pit with cool water. 4. Insert a bombilla into the pit. 5. Pour small sips of 150°F water into the pit. 6. Share and enjoy! To these tips I will add, once you poured the water in the mate gourd/cup don’t let the mate sit there because it’s going to get bitter. Sip it as soon as you pour it! For the first mate, start with a little bit of cold water and then add the hot water but sip it right away and remember the water doesn’t have to boil. The first couple of mates are not the good ones 😅 we called the first mate the fool mate or something like that! Yerba mate is a very healthy choice full of polyphenols, antioxidants, enjoy and explore different variations, drinking it hot ( mate) or drinking it cold ( Terere) adding mint leaves, lemon, orange peels, honey, the sky is the limit! As an Argentinian, I have to say I love this yerba mate! The quality is excellent, the flavor is rich and fresh, and it has just the right amount of caffeine and theanine. The texture is smoother than regular yerba mate, making it perfect for a traditional mate experience. Highly recommend!

I enjoy the aroma, quality, size and value for money. However, there is a trick to getting a good flavor, something you have to do prior to brewing.

I’ve tried Mate once before and didn’t care much about it. I decided to give it another shot and glad that I did. I brewed this like a regular tea in my Bodum Assam tea pot and currently enjoying a third cup of this wonderful tea!

This is a great alternative for someone who can no longer drink coffee due to digestive issues. It doesn't jolt you awake like coffee, still make you alert and awake. But unlike coffee you'll be left feeling calm. It is a lot more sustained energy than coffee and doesn't crash. And the thing I like about it is as L-Theanine in it, which makes it a very calming experience as well. Highly recommend for those who don't like the jitters the caffeine gifts but still want to wake up, as well as have it be sustained. Great brand and flavor for people who haven't tried it before.

First time trying Yerba Mate. Keeping it simple and brewing in a french press. Good flavor, I expected bitter but it tastes like a green tea (go figure.)

I bought this as I just started trying yerba mate, and learnt this was good for beginners. And yes, it's definitely helped me get through uni classes. And the packaging was lovely, it came with a chocolate.

Great mate to begin with. The taste is great, provided you make it properly. Make sure you do enough research on how to NOT ruin it. You can easily re-pour at least 8-10 times, as you should. I don't have the traditional mate gourd but my little thermos mug works just fine. Instructions: boil water around 75-80 degree Celsius. Fill up your mug/gourd just over half with the mate leaves. Turn it upside down, cover with your hand and give it a shake, turn it on its side and give it another shake. Tilt your container and form a 45 degree angle of the mate leaves inside. Insert your bombillo (the straw) and pour some cold water first. DO NOT move the bombillo after this point and DO NOT stir. Add the perfectly boiled water at said temperature upto the brim. The first sip is usually spat out and then enjoy your perfect mate. It gives me a nice light buzz and lifts the spirits everytime I drink it. Does not give you a caffeine crash experienced after having coffee. I love a good coffe as well, nothing against it but mate is another love affair. Some might find it weird tasting at the beginning but I guarantee you'll develop a palate for it after drinking it a few times. Full of antioxidants, vitamin c and perfect for fasting as it regulates the metabolism and appetite!

Il Cruz de Malta è il miglior yerba mate. Polvere di yerba contenuta al minimo, "elaborado con palo", senza inopportuni aromi estranei aggiunti. Ne consumo quotidianamente e considero conveniente acquistarlo qui, su Amazon tedesco, visto che comprese le modeste spese di spedizione se ordino 5-10 pacchi risparmio molto rispetto all'acquisto equivalente in Italia, dove abito. Consiglio non tanto una buona matera (che, se nuova, deve essere trattata: ci sono diverse guide in internet ma l'essenziale è riempirla di yerba mate e acqua e lasciarla così per tre giorni; inoltre per il Cruz de Malta deve essere piccola, non grande come la calabaza usata in Brasile) quanto una buona bombilla, il cui filtro consenta un buon tiraggio senza portare alla bocca pezzi di yerba. La polvere presente nel pacco, che sporca l'interno della bombilla, volendo può essere filtrata e usata in bustine da tè vuote che si trovano facilmente in commercio per fare un ottimo "mate del missionario", tisana eseguita con le stesse modalità del tè. Ho usato decine di tipi di yerba mate differenti in questi anni ma il Cruz de Malta resta sempre il migliore, più equilibrato e senza sorprese.

I tried this and the other Amazon recommended mate brand (with yellow bag) and personally prefer this Cruz brand as it tastes better, akin to a stronger green tea. I believe this mate is not smoked leading to the clean refreshing taste. -The tea colour is green bright from skipping out the smoking process. -tea grains are large, not too much stems and less dust vs other brand -the clarity from this caffeinated plant water is more pronounced then the other plant bean water, and reduced jittery feeling.
