I have bought several different books for adults to watercolor NONE can match this book! It is beautiful, many pictures to paint with concise instructions. Beginners welcome. An awesome gift! You will want one for your self! Mind blowing!

Beautiful book. Wonderful for beginners or if you’d just like to paint a little without worrying about all the set up or drawing. Very easy to follow instructions using accessible colors and supplies. I love the way it’s organized by techniques and builds on skills.

There’s nothing I don’t love about this watercolor book. To start, there are helpful tutorials for understanding watercolor painting dispersed throughout the book. The pages are thick enough where nothing bleeds through. There is an abundance of adorable drawings that make you excited to paint them. Absolutely love! 10/10 would recommend.

This book is lovely. The colors and quality of paper and sketches are great. I paid extra for the spiral bound because it would play flat. I was surprised it cost SO much more but didn’t anyway. Now I can see that the retail price printed on the back is $24.99 so my wondering about the significant price difference was justified, as I paid close to $35 and that was a lot more than the non spiral bound version of the same book. The only complaint about the book itself is the way the directions are on the right while the page you actually paint on is the left. I guess that will work great for the few lefties in the world but us righties will be disappointed that layout as well have to rest our hand on the spiral to paint the left page. It was almost enough to return it, but I like the simple pictures so I settled on keeping it. I feel like it got a little suckered and I shouldn’t have paid this much for this book but I do think it could have been worth the original $24.99 price.

Watercolor painting is all the rage right now. So many wonderful books, and this is one of them. Highly recommended by Andrea Nelson, watercolor artist. On the double-page layouts, one side is how-to instructions; the other side has the outline on watercolor paper so you can easily get started right away. Lots of tips and tricks. The subject matter is adorable. . . .

I have only skimmed through this book so far, but what I have read and viewed look to be very well thought out. I think it will be great fun to learn from this book. This is a wonderful beginner book with 119 pages of lovely watercolor illustrations and instruction on nice thick paper. Dana also has a Youtube channel with tutorials of some of the illustrations. This is actually how I discovered her book. The introduction is one page with a short list of supplies included. You then jump right into learning. I love that. I plan to start painting from it in the next few days. I will sketch the drawings on a separate watercolor sheet though. I don't really want to paint in the book so I won't be able to comment on the paper. I can say that the paper is more of a hot press surface but not a super smooth hot press. The weight of the paper feels to be about 110lb. Each section is designed to teach a certain technique. Wet on dry, wet into wet, how to paint fur and ink & wash. Each section starts simple and progresses with each study to the most difficult of the studies at the end. As you progress to the next section she has you use the techniques you learned previously along with the technique she is teaching in the new section.

I am new to watercolor but have wanted to try it most of my life. Now in my senior years, I was looking for a step by step guide that takes me through the various techniques ie. wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet etc. This book is easy to follow and gradually allows a beginner to build confidence by trying new ideas and experimenting with mixing colors. Highly recommended. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I am just a beginner in watercoloring and wanted to learn more about it. I decided to try this book as I am not into watching YouTube videos. The book is so beautiful! Very thick paper, so you can paint on the pages, but I decided to buy my own paper so I can reuse the book to practise as much as I can. She informs you what materials you need, how to blend the colours and how to layer. It is so much fun! I cannot draw but I am even getting better at drawing because of this book.

Love this book!!! I can’t remember the last time that I was so excited about a book. I have just done the first page and I can’t wait to master the entire book. I love that this book is made out of watercolour paper so that you can actually work on the opposite page with her instructions. I think the instructions could be a little bit more in detail for beginners, but I am already an artist so it was very easy for me to follow. I purchased this book as a daily journal to keep practising something. And it is also a great way to refresh some skills that you may not be using on a daily basis. Or maybe even learn a different technique to achieve a certain look. All in all, I love my new book! * I covered the instructions for copyright purposes.

While the book is gorgeous and full of exciting exercises, the paper is of poor quality and does not handle wet-on-wet washes at all. It pills and buckles badly on applying water. I'm really disappointed. I could try the exercises on my Watercolour paper but then what's the use of an expensive workbook? A wasted opportunity in a book of this kind.

Precioso libro con explicaciones sencillas para empezar a usar acuarelas. Lo que más me gustó fue que todas las ilustraciones usan una paleta de colores muy básica. Lo recomiendo ampliamente. Esta autora tiene un título nuevo similar pero ahora con tema de mar!
