Malt Extract Agar (MEA) Plates for Mushroom Cultivation (10 Prepoured Agar Plates)

These worked great. No contamination issues , once you open or unwrap them be very extra sterile in the way that you store them until use though. Since the lids just sit on there and don’t thread to the bottom , at least with me I found it easy to knock lid off if not careful so what I do now is after opening the stack and carefully removing just the plates I plan on using then. I then wrap the packaging back over the unused plates and tape the plastic wrap tight over them and put them back in a container just to be safe.

These agar plates were my first attempt at using agar to grow mushrooms for the first time and I was not impressed. The package (box) it came in was well sealed, but that’s where the “good packaging” ended. The plates were stacked in a ziplock bag stacked on top of each other upside down and there was liquid all over the inside of the bag containing the plates, where the contents clearly leaked all over the inside of the ziplock bag. These plates do NOT come sealed and are NOT sterile. There is no way to return this item so you will be SOL if you want to get your money back for this product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! UPDATE: within a couple days of posting this review, bacteria started growing in the plates and are visible in the most recent photos added today. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

I thought these would comes with parafilm, but there were no contams! I used a few and got great results. A couple still left in the original packaging and there are no contams or condensation.

Good product and well wrapped. Didn't really know what I was doing but will give it another shot.

Ok plates, a little light on media so they can dry out fast, otherwise growth is good. A little pricey but works in a pinch.

I am not sure why, I did everything according to clear instructions, but this extract did not work for me and nothing grew even slightly.
