Great Quality RS232 Adapter!
I've got a lot of older hardware which have RS232 serial ports, and a modern desktop which - like most - does not have RS232 serial ports. Hence needing a USB to RS232 adapter - like this one.I've had a few adapters over the years, but this is my first to feature a USB Type-C connector - which is becoming increasingly necessary now that manufacturers are phasing the larger Type-A connectors out of their laptop designs. It would have been nice to see Sabrent include a Type-C to Type-A adapter in the box, though.I've only tried the adapter under Linux, where it was picked up immediately as a Prolific PL2303-compatible driver and appeared on the system as /dev/ttyUSB0. No problems using it.A mention has to be given to the build quality. The USB cable is a little thin, perhaps, but protected, and the RS232 end features a robust metal shell - a far cry from the plastic of most of my existing USB-RS232 adapters! I expect this one will last for ages, and would be well up to withstanding being thrown around in a laptop bag for use in-the-field.

Plug and play, no driver issues in Windows11
Worked great, no messing with drivers on win11.Actually seemed to work ok on genuine RS232 devices. Good cable and not too bulky plugs.

Well presented and works fine on my Windows PC
I have an old piece of equipment I've been trying to get to work on a modern PC and the lack of serial ports is one of the issues I've had. Having tried standard USB converters before which didn't work I was happy to test out this new, smaller, USB Type-C connecting cable. It comes well presented in a branded box with a sheet of instructions. The cable appears well made and feels quite durable. I found on plugging it into my PC is was instantly picked up.Unfortunately it didn't solve my connection issue but I think this is likely a driver issue rather than a problem with any of the cables I've tried.

Works well
This seems to be a pretty good cable. It gets detected by Windows 10 or Windows 11 automatically as a USB serial port using a Prolific PL2303GS (VID 0x067B, PID 0x23A3), in this case supplemented by a ZT213LEEA RS232 trasceiver, and works perfectly well when connected to a Cisco network switch or wireless access point using the standard Cisco console cable. Some of the USB Cisco console cables won't work with wireless access points, but that's no issue here.Note that there's no strain relief on the cable; you might want to pop the cover off and fit a cable tie. Note also that although the PL2303GS can theoretically communicate at 12Mbaud, the ZT213LEEA constrains to a more believable 250kbaud.

One slight problem!
SABRENT USB-C to DB9 Serial RS-232 Adapter Cable, Prolific PL2303GS Chipset, USB 2.0, 1bps-12Mbps Baud Rate, for .....Computers these days are seriously lacking when it comes to serial ports. Some of us still use them and although most computers will have serial port headers on the motherboards, they are usually don’t supply the physical port and if you have a laptop, then this could be the only option. It is a USB-C to male DB-9 connector and gives you a serial RS-232 port. I have used it on Windows 10 and 11 and no driver was necessary, it just picked it up and sets it as a ‘COM’ port. Although not exactly RS232 voltages, the data is +-6volts, rather than some of the cheaper ones that use TTL voltages of 0 and +5v.There is one slight problem though, the DB-9 plug has stand-off fittings which you would expect on a female port, consequently, I will have to remove them before I can connect it to any of my equipment and unfortunately, they do not unscrew so I am going to have to break them off. Confusingly the box does mention a ‘Male-to-male adapter’ which leads me to think there was an adapter in the box, but no!It is unfortunate but if I must mess around with additional leads or adapters, I may as well have got the ribbon and port to directly connect inside the computer! Why they didn’t at least make these screw-in standoffs so I wouldn’t have to damage the thing!

Extremely useful DB9 to USB-C adapter - Works great for supporting older equipment
Extremely useful DB9 to USB-C adapter - Works great for supporting older equipment that need a DB9 connection. Some may feel these types of adapters are not really necessary as they are older ones out there with USB-A but I hope to say that may be true but as USB-C is the future and allow better and faster connections then when I saw this I just had to have it as my older USB-A adapter has been used for a very long time and I wanted an upgrade.Out of the box, top quality and long lasting build quality with a very decent 90 centimetre cable length and even better than my old adapter cable. Drivers for the adapter automatically loaded on Windows 10 and 11 so very ncie to see that I was not having to search random driver sites to get it working.Simple plug and play, plug it into a USB-C connector and the other end into my DB9 to RJ45 cable that I use to manager and support my network switches all working great and at a great price point. So if you want to get the latest DB9 Serial to USB-C adapter then please give this one a try. This adapter uses the well known Prolific Chipset and worked in several terminal emulators that I use to manage my environment. Excellent connectivity for device management for network switches, printers, server chassis, modems and plc controllers.

Works fine, good serial adapter
Great to have one of these that is USB-CI have used this on a Windows machine and a MacBook, with no issues on either.Build quality feels good, and it's not completely plastic, like some others.A pair of RX/TX LED's would be nice, but not many adapters seem to have these anyway.Recommended if you need a RS232 adapter for a modern machine with USB-C.
