I bought this before a trip knowing we’d come back with more than we left with. On the way there I used 2 bags (1 for a big squishmallow that my son prefers to use as a pillow, and 1 for four beach towels, the squishmallow bag was opened and closed a few times and stayed compressed each use, the towels were never used and stayed compressed the whole 12 day trip). On the way back I used 2 more bags (both for dirty laundry). 3 of the 4 bags worked flawlessly, one of the dirty laundry bags did not stay compressed…. I tried all the tricks that I’ve read here in the reviews and it just didn’t work. At least it kept the dirty laundry separate from the clean, but still, it didn’t work and made repacking a tad difficult. I have yet to used the rest of this bundle, but given the reviews I suspect only 75% of them will work, which is still a good deal. I have not tried to use a vacuum, I only used the pump that was supplied. I recommend putting your items in the bag and then placing the bag in your suitcase and then sucking the air out, this is to make sure it compresses to fit in your suitcase!!

Would love these bags if they stayed deflated. Only lasted about 2 weeks then air dissipated. Good for traveling but not for storage.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have space saver brand bags that are between 2-5 years old that still work perfectly. The Ziploc option does not hold a candle to the original space saver bag. I just ordered a new set and was surprised that they feel extremely cheap, thin, and flimsy compared to the older bags I have that are still working perfectly. Even the sliding piece that is used to make the snap/zip seal airtight is now a flimsy piece of plastic without the grooves that align with the seal. A couple of the bags in my recent order arrived with gashes/ holes that appear to be due to folds/creases and pressure, not some external mechanism. I will update on the quality of the vacuum seal with this thin plastic—another review reported that the thickness has been reduced from 0.9 mm to 0.4 mm. That is a significant change in quality from my assessment. I wonder if there is a counterfeit version that Amazon is shipping by mistake? I believe the fail point is around the vacuum seal port and the thinnness of the plastic bag around that circle. It does not appear to be strong enough to hold up to long term storage.

Very thick bags which seal tight. The vacuum pump works well. I got at least a two-thirds reduction in volume making storage much more efficient.

Significant decrease in the quality of the bag material compared to a couple of years ago. TBD whether these stay sealed and don’t reinflate.
