Great product!!!
I can't believe all the negative reviews about this item. I've owned two of these for over ten years and they work really great and have never missed a beat.I only want my wife to pull her Tahoe in the garage by about two inches, just enough room to close the door behind it so I mounted her's on the ceiling. When she pulls in the garage and the laser light hits a certain place on her dash, she stops and she's exactly where she needs to be for the garage door to close behind her. We have a refrigerator in front of her vehicle and if she pulls in too far it makes it hard to get in it. I back my truck in the garage and have mine mounted on a cabinet on the right side of my truck and it shoots the light behind the truck to a wall on the left side of the truck. I mounted a small block of wood cut at a 45 degree angle and the light hits the 45 degree angle so I can see it when I back in through my mirror. When I'm backing in I watch the light on the block of wood and when it goes out I stop. Four inches from the back wall every time.A friend of mine asked asked me about my laser lights last night and wanted one for his wife so I just ordered him one.

Waste of Money!
I am glad that this item only cost about $20.00 . I received the item and I proceeded to mount it on the wall. I saw that it could be used with a 9 volt battery which would make it easier for power reasons. I put in the nine volt and set the laser beam. I went out to the garage during the day, and the light came on as I came into range of the sensor. That went OK for a couple of hours. I went out again to the garage and I noticed that the laser light didn't come on. I waved my hand in front of the sensor with no results. The battery I installed was a new 9 volt battery, but I thought I would check it with a meter. Meter showed that the battery was fully charged. Tried it again with the same results. On the third try I took out the battery and used the electric connection also provided. Needless to say, I had the exact result. Very frustrating. If your looking for this type of parking helper, you might try to purchase one from another company!

Cool garage gadget!
I marked it down by a single star for the lack of a correct mounting hole and the cheapest mounting screws I've ever used. The mounting design is silly if you have exposed rafters, a triangle pattern, I had to drill and countersink an additional hole to secure it in the the rafter, even drilling pilot holes and hand screwing the phillips heads screws supplied stripped, the screws are that poor.As for the function. The item works perfect for my use. I mounted it approximately 4' behind my opener on the bottom edge if a support rafters, and plugged it into the same power source as the opener, wires were tied up with zip ties I provided. This location means the sensor doesn't see the car until it's more then half way into the garage and only then lights and gives the driver a quick final stopping point. In my case I'm not concerned with judging what's in front of me I'm more concerned with being in deep enough that the rear of the car will clear the closing door.On the issue of not being able to adjust the beam to some desired central, or driver side location for the car parking on the left... Yes, the head will not spread wide enough to do that. Frankly, big deal! The driver of that left side parking car has two big concerns IMHO. First don't run over a human or anaimal in the garage and second don't hit the car parked to it's right. That means you should be watching that relationship distance wise to that right side vehicle and having the beam hit on a specific spot on the right side of the dash isn't an inconvenience. Overall I'm very pleased with how this item works and what a great addition it's been to make sure the car is parked every time within an inch or so of the same spot and always clears the door. Total install time including the extra hole was maybe 40 min. I'm a gadget guy and I just think it's kind cool and certainly nicer than the tennis ball on a string.

most reliable parking system i've used
This is a real review, I paid full price for this itemvery reliable and easy to use, I've used the other types of systems and they've all failed and/or caused me to backup into the wall... this one has been 100% reliable so far. sometimes it's hard to see when the sun is reflecting off the hood, but if you back in enough to start closing door, you'll see the dot as the door is closing so you can still tell where you need to be

Screws don't fit the mounting holes.
Performs very well. But installation was a problem as the supplied screws did not fit flush with the mounting holes. This prevented the unit from sliding onto the mounting bracket. Holes on the mounting bracket must be manually widened, slowly and carefully, by twisting increasingly larger sizes of drill bits into the holes until they become wide enough for the screws to sit flush in the openings, yet not slide right through. Or you can just buy alternate screws to fit the holes of course. But again, the unit performs very well.

Cheap Plastic, doesn't provide much of a beam spread
This is made of cheap plastic. The wire inside of one of the lasers broke the first time I tried to position the eye. Amazon quickly replaced it though... It does not provide as much of a spread as I had hoped. I didn't feel comfortable trying to force them any further apart for fear of breaking one of the lasers off (that's how cheap the plastic feels). I had to locate it about six feet in front of the cars in order to get the beams to shine into the windows of both cars; and that barely touches the corners of each dashboard. They are only parked about three feet apart, far enough away from each other so the doors can open nearly all the way.

Better than a ball on a string - doesn't get in the way :-)
Worked perfectly, and was easy to install. Laser is easy to see. Just aimed it for a certain spot on the dashboard of the car and now we're able to park the correct distance from the wall every time.
