A great digital mixer, with a lot of flexibility
For me this has been a great mixer. I primarily record multichannel podcasts via the USB ASIO interface, and having 16 channels that I can separately record is great. I also love that there is a separate gate, compressor and EQ for each channel as it gives me a lot of flexibility and replaces my old separate gate/comp boxes. The preamps are clean and have plenty of gain, and it has 16 XLR inputs, 6 Aux channels, 4 FX mixes, and of course main out. You do need to do the initial setup via wifi from a computer/iPad. I mainly run mine wired to my home router, and like that its accessible from any iPad, Android or computer in the house using the Mackie app. You can have up to 20 iPad/Android or computers tied wirelessly to it so that is fantastic as each person can control their mix. It works as its own wireless access point or you can configure it to connect to your existing home network. The Mackie software was not hard to learn. You need to spend a little bit of time watching some tutorials if you want to do advanced FX, but the basic mixes, aux mix and gates/comps can be learned very quickly. You do need to manage the session/snapshots a bit as they are stored on your computer/iPad and not on the mixer. I do a handful of live events each year, and again the wireless control is an amazing feature. You can walk around the room and adjust mics and speakers yourself. You can also adjust things during the event from anywhere instead of being tied to the audio table. My only advice would be to buy a cheap wifi router to plug it into if you do a lot of live events as the built in wifi seems to be low power/limited range (a problem with the competitor products as well). The main competitor for this would be the Behringer XR18, which is a little cheaper, but in short supply at the moment. While I've not run the Behringer, it has one more MIDI input, similar overall capabilities and seems to have the same type of built-in wifi issues. I could not find one in stock, and had used Mackie mixers in the past so I went with the Mackie and did not look back. Positive - 16 XLR inputs, 8 with 1/4" plugs, 6 Aux out, 4 FX mixes, Main and headphone out - Separate digital EQ/Gate/Compressor on each input - Control it from up to 20 wireless iPad/Android/Computers with ability to lock-out features for band members so they can just adjust their own mix - 16 channel ASIO recording of each channel via USB - Mackie software was not hard to learn/use, and looks the same across iPad/Computer/Phone - Good quality Onyx preamps with enough gain for dynamic mics (near full gain) and 48V phantom available on all inputs Negative - Internal wifi has limited range - get a cheap router to plug into if doing live events - A bit more expensive than the Behringer XR18 (if you can find one)

Sounds great!!!!
Made a huge difference in the sound of our band!!! The clarity is unreal !!! You will need to buy a router because it doesn’t have its own wi-fi; But that’s no major problem for the quality of sound that comes from this mixer. If I had one complaint, it would be that it doesn’t have Bluetooth capability for playing music from an external device such as a phone or tablet. You have to hardwire the device and that takes up one channel. But still, no major set back when compared to the quality of this mixer.

Only one of three brands really works.
Before trying the Mackie DL16SE, I tried the Behringer XR18. But after multiple attempts and hours using both the internal wifi and portable external wifi router, I connected my iPad twice to the system and my android phone to the system once. I returned the Behringer and then tried the Midas MR18. After multiple attempts and hours again using both the internal wifi and portable external router, I connected my iPad to the unit once, and could never connect my android phone. I then returned the Midas and bought this Mackie DL 16SE. Finally after two weeks of trying to upgrade to a rack mounted digital mixer!!!! I connected to the Mackie with both my android and iPad in less than four minutes. Hallelujah, I found the company who can deliver what is promised. It costs a bit more, but more importantly it works! And the Mackie app is so much more intuitive to use and is up-to-date as well!

Great System
We are using this system for a contemporary style worship. We replaced a traditional sound board with this unit and it is awesome. The sound quality and features are way beyond what we had with our other basic board. The only down side, so far, is that on the old board we could hit a "solo" button and that would single a person out so we could mix easier...so far the "solo" buttons just make that person louder but do not eliminate the other voices. It may be operator error, but other than this little thing, this board seems to be everything we were wanting and so much more!!! Love it!!!

Even better then my previous version
I purchased this to replace my DL808 mixer which I have been using for years without issue. I liked the stage box format which would simplify setup in my applications by removing the need for a snake completely. So far I have not been disappointed. It was simple to figure out as I was already familiar with the software but there are a ton of additional features that I will explore over time as well. Mackie quality like you would expect and so far no surprises.

Reliable for working Musicians
Mackie products are simply so well made and the DL16S is no exception. Just plug it in and you'll be sure to get that same reliable sound every time. The Master Fader App by now with version 5 is intuitive and stable so there is no pressure at show time. Each musician can just connect into the mixer to control their own feed.

Works, but definitely be on top of firmware updates…
On very first use in a show, after a power cycle between rehearsal and the performance, the mixer was acting very oddly in the *digital* domain and adding a bunch of digital glitch noise into the output. In the end I upgraded the firmware (I had precisely kept it entirely air gapped) and never had the problem recur, but I had to rip it out that day and re mix the performance live on a backup analog board. So, I’m still not sure if I trust this or not…

I had the Mackie dl806 for a couple of years. Then decided to upgrade to the Mackie dl32s. But be prepared for constant delays and issues with the Master Fader App. Master fader 5.1 has been massively delayed and slow to release. It won't be released until July 2019. Which means no compatibility with PC and Mac. I have a PC and I have an older Ipad I used with my dl806, but guess what, since I won't be able to update this version to IOS 10 I will have to buy a new Ipad that's iOS 10 or above. And compatibility with Windows and Mac isnt until sometime in July. You would also think that you would have a full view with any andriod tablet with OS 6 or later, but NO. A lot of andriod tablets also doesn't give you a full view option, you can only see the faders and nothing else. Very frustrating to think I have to spend money on a new I pad only to be able to use my windows in July. I will go with Soundcraft instead. Here is a quote from Mackie's Master Fader Roadmap: "We recognize that this new app has taken much longer to complete than we anticipated, and we are just as eager as you are to get it completed. We truly appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience the delay has caused you. Our team is tirelessly working to get it done and will continue to do so."
