You aren’t the only person wondering about this. Most of us grew up with processed table salt in the kitchen, but nature doesn’t make pure white salt. Unrefined sea salt like ours is mostly sodium chloride – along with more than 60 naturally-occurring trace minerals that give it more color and help Real Salt bring the most flavor out of your food. One of these trace minerals (about 1 grain out of every 800) is silica, which is not always water soluble. People take silica supplements to support healthy skin, hair, and fingernails, with recent research pointing to benefits for memory, nerve cell health, and pancreatic insulin release. It may be worth finding ways to get more silica into your diet, but when you use Real Salt you might see it settle at the bottom of a glass or even notice the texture in your breakfast. Some people notice it more than others, and some of the people who notice it don’t care much for it. We could process Real Salt to remove the silica, of course, but these natural minerals are exactly the reason so many people won’t use anything but Real Salt. I hope that helps you understand the texture you noticed. We think it’s part of what makes Real Salt great, but if you still have concerns let me know. If you want to keep using Real Salt without any possible grit we have powder Real Salt I can send you, or I’d rather refund your purchase and recommend a second-best brand of sea salt than leave you with a bad taste (or texture, I guess) in your mouth.

Kosher sounds like the perfect size that you are looking for! It will be bigger than the granule size of a standard shaker but smaller than the size of granule that you will need to grind.

Q: Will this work for making keto crackers?

We aren't familiar with the process of making keto crackers, but this salt can take place as any current salt you are using. There shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work.
