Great for sensitive skin, strong cleaning, no overpowering scent
I switched to Tide Clean & Gentle Powder Detergent because we wanted something that cleans like Tide but is easier on sensitive skin. After several weeks of use, I’m impressed. It removes everyday stains (sweat, food, light mud) and keeps whites bright without leaving that heavy “perfume” smell some detergents have. The scent is very mild and doesn’t linger on clothes, which is exactly what I wanted. I also prefer powder for value and shelf life, and this one dissolves well as long as you don’t overload and you add it properly (I toss it in as the water starts filling, then add clothes). No irritation issues in our house so far, and towels and workout clothes come out feeling clean—not coated. Pros: Gentle on sensitive skin, minimal fragrance Cleans really well (especially everyday loads) Good value vs. many “sensitive” detergents Clothes feel clean, not overly softened or scented Cons: Like most powders, can clump if you dump it on top of dry clothes Might need warm water for best dissolution on very cold cycles Overall, this is a great “best of both worlds” detergent—Tide-level cleaning with a much more skin-friendly, low-scent experience. I’d absolutely buy it again.

Definite fragrance in the box. Does not carry over to clothing.
I bought this detergent, fully expecting I would need to return it due to the many reviews about its strong fragrance. I have MCAS with severe fragrance allergies, and I cannot tolerate ANY fragrance on my clothing. Please be aware that this detergent absolutely has a fragrance upon opening the box! But for whatever reason, the fragrance didn’t instantly trigger me the way most other fragrances do. This was completely unexpected, so I then decided to try it on some old towels, just to see if it would leave a lingering scent. To my shock, the towels smelled of zero fragrance after washing (even DURING the wash, I smelled no fragrance when I opened the washer lid). After drying they smelled of the best kind of clean nothingness! No fragrance whatsoever (I do always add a citric acid rinse, which may or may not help remove any lingering scent). This detergent works great and my clothes come out truly fragrance-free. To prevent any potential reactions to the fragrance of the open box, I transferred it to a container with a sealed lid. So if you have MCAS/fragrance allergies and are hesitant to buy this: yes, this really DOES have a fragrance out of the box. But for me, the clothes themselves come out completely fragrance-free. I’m glad I took a chance and tried it, because it really is a great detergent!

So glad it’s back!
I prefer powder detergents a million times over, and unscented for the most part. So many free & clear laundry detergents are so weak, Tide is the best. If you are super scent sensitive, this does have a very very slight perfume-y scent. Laundry enthusiasts are assuming it is made on the same line as original Tide in a country to our south and picks up just a little bit.

Cleaner Clothes, Less Skin Irritation
I feel like I've tried a zillion laundry detergents looking for one that is a) a powder, b) gentle on sensitive skin, c) actually cleans my clothes really well. Tide Clean and Gentle Powder is coming close to being perfect. It definitely does a better job on my kid's softball uniform and oily kitchen towels than any of the eco-brands I've tried (maybe it's the lipase?). I really like that it's a powder, and I'm not paying for a plastic bottle or a jug of mostly-water. There are a couple of drawbacks for me: I think it's a pretty strong detergent that might be fading the colors/finish of my fabrics. I use a small amount and double-rinse, but I still think my colors aren't coming out quite as bright. My whites look great. There is a fragrance. It's light and pleasant, but I don't think it's quite as gentle on my sensitive skin (with eczema) as other brands' free and clear products. I feel like I've had a little minor irritation on my face since I started using it. Look - I wish it was even more eco-conscious, and I wish it was completely fragrance free. But until I find a really eco-friendly, free and clear product that cleans as well as this one does, I'll be using Tide.

Tide Clean & Gentle Powder Detergent-THE BOMB
Tide Clean & Gentle Powder Laundry Detergent is the bomb!!!! Lasts forever/cleans/whitens like no other & unscented. My clothes/towels/blankets are 100% fragrance free & safe to breath. Be sure to use very little washing darks as they'll dry blotchy/uneven if the soap isn't rinsed out. Thank you Tide for bringing this product back.

Works with cold water. Use a different scoop
Good stuff. I use this powder with icy cold water in winter, and it dissolves fully, as long as it goes in the machine with the clothes and not in the upper drawer. Note: the measuring cup that comes with it is much too big, too hard hard to read for a normal load (which is at the lowest line of five lines). So I keep another scoop of the right size in the box.

Gentle for baby but gets out stains well
Great for stain removal but gentle for baby clothes. Our local grocery store doesn't carry this so I was glad to find it here on Amazon, saved me a long drive to find it elsewhere.

Strong scent, unusable.
I really wanted to like this, the spiritual successor to the good old Free and Gentle powder. Unfortunately, the box I received smelled EXACTLY like original Tide powder - truly indistinguishable, and it didn't fully come out in the wash or dryer either. This has been happening to enough people that The Wirecutter asked Proctor and Gamble about it. P&G admitted that this powder is made on the same manufacturing line in Mexico a their regular Tide powder, and they don't clear the line before switching. As a result, boxes from early in the manufacturing run pick up the left over scent, and boxes by the end of the run are relatively scent-free. I don't like blind boxes, and I definitely don't like blind box laundry detergent scents, so I'll be getting a refund from P&G and not buying this in the future.
