WORST LAST 3MONTHS
I purchased this refurbished phone to replace the exact same model that I've had for nearly 5 years. The one I had worked perfectly fine for the first 4 years, and only after 4 years began having issues. Since I wanted the same kind of phone, I decided to try a refurbished one. Upon receiving it, the first problem was the battery. The battery that came with it was half as weak as the one I had with my original Kyocera (which I bought in physical Verizon store). Fortunately, I was able to use the battery from my original phone with this refurbished phone. Oh, and by the way, when I bought the original one 5 years ago I paid $90 for it in the Verizon store. This REFURBISHED phone cost me MORE THAN DOUBLE of the original phone I had. I know that inflation is bad, but it's not THAT bad. Nevertheless, I was willing to fork over the money with the expectation that this new phone would last me at least a few years. For that kind of price, I wouldn't expect any less. After merely three months of use, the screen completely gave out, out of nowhere. Literally, it just went blank and no matter what I'd press, restart it, etc., it wouldn't work. And – surprise, surprise – this happened literally a FEW DAYS after the deadline had passed for being able to return this phone on Amazon. Seeing that I urgently needed a new phone, I forked over another $280 or so for a newer Kyocera model, and a brand new one at that. So, the first $200 I spent on this refurbished phone was a complete waste of money. A phone that should have lasted me at least a few years, lasted me only 3 months. Not to mention that I couldn't even retrieve my contacts from it, since the screen didn't work (and when transferring the SIM card, it doesn't transfer the contacts with it). I want a refund for this phone. I'd even be willing to accept a partial refund, since I did benefit from the phone for 3 months, but I shouldn't have to cover its full cost, or most of its cost."

Easy to use, working as expected, remember to also buy a sim card
This Kyocera Cadence flip phone was bought "renewed" and worked great, no issues activating it. It will work as-is with Verizon and the cheaper PagePlusCellular.com that uses Verizon's towers. IMPORTANT: With either provider you WILL need to buy a sim card to put into this phone, their new phone towers require it. The size is a NANO sim card, if you look on this site you'll find both providers offer a 3-in-1 sim card that will accommodate all sizes a phone could ever need including NANO. You can also buy these in retail stores or on the providers website, whichever you prefer. This phone was a replacement for a Casio Gz'one flip phone for an elderly family member. Since Verizon's towers will no longer work for 3G phones after Jan 1st 2020 this was a forced upgrade and probably the best option for a senior with very similar phone features. It has nice backlit buttons, much bigger than the flip phone it is replacing (not as big as a Jitterbug, but the Jitterbug phone service for elderly folks is crazy expensive). The display screen is clear and the icons easy to read. If you put the phone font on large an elderly person will appreciate it even more. The buttons and menu are typical of most flip phones so there's no surprises. If you have a voicemail or txt message, there is a bright green LED light that will stay on to notify you. It has the added benefit from generic phones in that you can add custom ringtones to specific callers so you know who is calling without looking. To upload mp3's that you already have the easiest way is to buy a micro SD card and transfer them onto there from your pc and then put the micro SD card into the flip phone and "copy" each ringtone to the phone (or just download them if you grab them from online, this flip phone does connect to wifi and bluetooth). To copy all contacts from one flip phone to the other we also used the micro SD card, normally you can use bluetooth to transfer but the old phone wasn't cooperating so copying everything to the micro SD card worked great to transfer contacts, photos, and custom music ringtones. The other feature that some generic phones don't have is the button directly above the END/HANGUP button, it's the little robotic voice helper that you can use to do hands-free things (for elderly people, they appreciate just being able to hit the button and say "CALL JOHN DOE" and have it auto dial). The only "cons" for us is that the phone doesn't have a loop to hang a lanyard on for easier carrying, and I also couldn't find a stylish snap-on case for it yet like many other flip phones offer but that still may come. Also, not really a con more of a preference but if you lay the phone face up on a table the ringing is a bit muted because the speaker seems to be on the back so it muffles it a bit. Overall, a solid easy to use phone that won't break the bank and is a lot nicer than the basic $20 flip phones sold in retail stores.

Good flip phone, received an unusable device
This phone was for my parent, who had this model before and liked it more than the other replacement we tried first. She likes that it is already familiar and has well labeled, easy to read buttons. (The other flip phone we tried didn't have labeled buttons and the speaker phone was difficult to access.) The "renewed" device we received came with incompatible charger and a battery that won't charge. The charger is annoying and we had another that was compatible but the phone isn't usable since the battery won't charge. I called and the automatic voice (ugh) made me go through the process of describing the problem twice - its like it forgot what happened and restarted the questions. Apparently my only option is to return the device for a refund which I will probably be doing. There is a good chance we will try ordering another of this model of phone if we can find one that isn't refurbished.

Died after a week
I really wanted to like this phone, but unfortunately, it completely died after just one week of use. At first, everything seemed fine—good performance, decent battery life, and a solid design. However, out of nowhere, the phone stopped charging and wouldn’t turn on, even after trying multiple cables, chargers, batteries and troubleshooting steps.
