One feature I really really like is that you can set the dro to 0
These are very high quality. The fact that you get a metric and a standard mic for the price of one, with the quality you would expect from mitutoyo, was justifiable enough. Not to mention the DRO on this alone makes this a unique tool. It comes with a 1 year warranty from mitutoyo a certificate of inspection from mitutoyo. One feature I really really like is that you can set the dro to 0.0 on a gauge block and then anything you measure will be shown as the difference between the size of the gague block and the part you are measuring. My only regret was not buying these sooner. However, the case they give you is rather cheap and the micrometer will shake in there if you don't add some foam on your own.

Ratings Speak for Themselves
This set of Mitutoyo micrometers is simply, without a doubt, one of the finest sets you can buy at this level. Measurements are extremely consistent and accurate, as long as you keep the faces clean. I've owned this set for going on 3 years now and the battery is still going strong. Granted, I use it only occasionally, but it's good to know that you have a quality tool ready to use.The DRO is very nice and the in/mm conversion is a huge plus, as micrometers are almost always analog as opposed to calipers, in my experience. They didn't pay much attention to the analog scale, as it came uncalibrated out of the box.One thing I wish it had was a vernier scale on the sleeve, as a backup in case the battery dies and you don't have a spare. Also, sometimes I like to use a vernier scale just for fun.Update(1/27/18): The battery recently died after a little over 3 years of moderate use.

Should have bought this first.
Not sure why I didnt buy this first. This makes checking parts during production so much easier. Just zero your part at the dimension on the print then you can see if your inside your tolerance done easier. This has sped up my production slightly at work because its easier to read than regular mics. It still helps to be able to read the graduations on a mic instead of always trusting the readout but if you need to read in tenths or millionths then the readout is the only way to do this. The hold button is a huge plus. No more worries about scratching parts when taking blind measurements. My only minor complaint is the speed of the barrel when changing measurement but if I wanted it to move faster I should have gotten their quantumike version instead. Its not enough to knock a star though since I new when I bought it it was like this.If your not used to its size it will take some getting used to the longer length compared to a regular mic. I would still reccomend this to anyone needing a quality mic. If you use mics daily at work it will pay for itself quickly.

Fantastic mic, definetly worth it
I love this mic! It is so smooth and crisp, and the digital readout is lightening fast. Repeats to less than a tenth every time. Best of all... being a little old school and shunning the fancy battery things, if the battery were to go out, the mic is still marked with the same old vernier scale as any other mitutoyo mic. Can’t loose with this mic. Buy it.

Just about as good as a digital micrometer gets.
Mitutoyo has a great reputation, so much so that there are counterfeit versions from the far east. One of the reasons I bought it was it is easy to misread a analog micrometer if you don't use one regularly. Adding and subtacting numbers in relation to .025 can get confusing if your not in practice. Cheap insurance to deep from ruining a part you are machining.

these will do fine. I gave a 4 star rating because the ...
I use these at work a lot. I needed a pair of mics of my own instead of borrowing everyone else's. I check my pair almost every day with pin-gauges, they are actuate. Although, no prints I've seen have ever called out a crazy tolerance for millionths so... these will do fine. I gave a 4 star rating because the tenths should be on the barrel also, instead of only being digital.

Good purchase.
This was an absolute steal, it works awesome and I have already sent more people to look at it from work. great price on an near essential piece of equipment. I've always seen digital mics as a crutch until I was speaking to a younger co-worker that pointed out since we do both SAE and Metric metrology at work its much simpler and cost effective to buy digital micrometers because by the time you buy two quality analog mics you have two to three times the money in them. Look at a pup teaching an old dog new tricks.

Good for the Price
Very accurate and reproducible to 0.0001", after that you're in the noise region of the micrometer. I gave it only a 3 star, because you can't reach the ratchet end of the spindle with the same hand, as you easily can with a Starrett mechanical micrometer. Also, the Starrett approaches the measuring point with better feel than the Mitutoyo. Prehaps it is because the spindle portion is out of plastic instead of metal, and the threads are not the same quality. You also can't remove the spindle for oiling the threads. It is a good value for the price, but I'll go back to my Starrett ones.

Great quality tool
Superb Mitutoyo quality. I got these at a great price for my home workshop. Accuracy is spot on when tested on my gauge blocks, all I need to do is get that accurate in my own work! Only slight downside is the box could be a bit better quality.

Highly recommended for anyone a bit more "old school" who wants the best of current tech. ;)
In my 25 years of machining I have used lots of mics and own several older mitutoyos. Digitals I always borrowed from QA when I wanted one. This is my first personal digital mic and I am extremely happy with the purchase. The "QuantuMike" was the best for a while with its superior accuracy - but I just did not like them. I know they are great, but something about the 2mm per turn and the all in one plastic ratchet thimble bothered me. I have never liked "slip thimbles". I am glad I waited. This 293-340-30 model now has the same incredible incredible +/- .00005 inches accuracy as the QuantuMike but has the traditional style all metal thimble with a separate (albeit plastic) ratchet. With a few ratchet clicks it will repeat to the half tenth mark every time and I can quickly get it to within a half tenth mark of that with just my own one-handed no-ratchet tension for fast non critical checking. This mic also has some heft to it, which I see as a plus. Everything on it is finished beautifully - all you would expect with the best. Highly recommended for anyone a bit more "old school" who wants the best of current tech. ;)

so I don't have a great basis for comparison
I've never used one of these before, so I don't have a great basis for comparison. I bought it predominantly to measure real-world goods for reproduction as 3D models, along with a comparable Mitutoyo digital caliper. Very accurate and the results are reasonable reproducible. I tested it against a set of feeler gauges, and it lined up pretty well. I would probably question the feeler gauge before this tool if there was a discrepancy.I had to do a bit of research on how to turn this off. There's no switch (as there is on the caliper), and it takes about twenty minutes to shut itself off. For storage, roll the spindle off the anvil a bit and engage the lock before putting it away, otherwise it's apparently quite sensitive and will turn itself on when you even think about it.
