Berghaus Men's Arran Shell Jacket

This is one of the best waterproof jackets I've ever owned. The quality of the waterproof material feels really good and is completely waterproof. Add in the fact that I believe you can also zip in the berghaus fleece, and it makes this the ultimate in keeping warm and dry in the miserable weather. I also managed to get this for exactly £100 in the sale too so I got even more value for money.

I ordered the Arran to replace my excellent 20 year old Berghaus Mera Peak . Having followed the size guide and amazon's recommendation on size for people of my dimensions I ordered size L. I am 5ft 8 inches with 42 chest. When it came I could hardly get it on but liked the material. I immediately sent it back to Amazon via Hermes (and Amazon gave me my refund as soon as it had been collected from the pick up point - excellent service from Amazon). With the refund money I immediately ordered size XL which fits like a glove with fleece on (albeit the arms are a bit long but better than too short). The new Hydro Shell elite material us a lot stiffer than Goretex but seems to keep me warm and also seems breathable. So recommend you order next size up but it's a good product. Also £60 cheaper than on the Berghaus website!

What an amazing jacket this is - the zips look as though they could take a dunking, the peaked hood simply doesn't move in the wind which is brilliant. The map pockets are a good size, the cuffs are generous enough to fit my gloves under which is very handy. The XL works well for me allowing me to layer up in winter and to leave it lighter as the weather warms up. Very happy with my purchase - would recommend. edit - the pockets are at exactly the wrong height. The waist straps of my rucksack neatly prevent access which, when it's throwing it down and the wind is getting up, is not a good thing. That is my only niggle, the rest of the jacket remains brilliant and has helped keep me warm and dry in some very nasty weather.

I used this coat when walking in remote Scottish locations during mixed weather conditions. Driving rain did not penetrate the coat at all. The coat also provided great protection from the wind. The generous hood is useful for keeping your head dry and protecting your hair! Wear a fleece underneath if the weather is cold. A significant reason of mine for purchasing this particular coat is that is a fairly bright red/orange colour. If walking in remote areas you really need to be easily seen. Don't wear dark or neutral colours which camouflage you against the terrain. If you need assistance, mountain rescue will find you much more easily. If you wear dark colours, you may end up being yet another person who is never seen again.

Are use this jacket to go to work and also to go hiking. I haven’t been in a downpour with it yet but it seems to be pretty waterproof. It also is very windproof and is all I need at the moment.

We do a lot of walking and had a lot of coats over our time but I must say I am loving this one the most. Nice and comfy, not heavy and doing very well so far on the most important thing of keeping me dry.

La qualità è Berghaus, ottimo materiale e ottime rifiniture. Impermeabile ma non abbastanza traspirante. Non è come il Gore-Tex. In condizioni Primavera - Autunno, fa sudare. Abbigliamento adatto a climi freddi e umidi.
