Northside Icicle Boot is well-made, warm, dry, easy to put on
I wanted a boot for my son that wasnt going to cost me a ton, since his feet grow so fast, but would be warm and keep his feet dry. We live in Michigan, and after getting 12 inches of snow this past week, these boots have stood the test! I ordered them a size bigger than his shoes so that he would have some wiggle room for warm, and they are perfect. He does not need extra socks, and they stay dry inside. The only thing my son complained of was that snow got stuck in the thick treads of the boot and got built up and stuck there, but I think that was because the first snow we got was very wet.Great boot- would recommend and would buy again.

Warm and sturdy. The main problem is that they've been useless in the snow -- the snow just clumps up on the bottom and then creates a snow block on the bottom of the boot that my son can't walk on. Four different snows (admittedly wet snows) and it has happened each time. My guess is that the tread is too deep and when the snow packs into the tread the sole is too stiff for a toddler to flex while walking so the snow doesn't break off 'naturally' --- it just builds and builds until there's a snow block. I'm now searching for boots with more shallow tread or a more flexible sole.

Fatal Design Flaw
Very very disappointed in these boots. Granted, I got a wicked deal and got them for $9 on sale with prime but it was too good to be true. They're warm and well built. That's where it ends. All good qualities are voided but the material adheres to the tread that holds snow to it. The only thing it'd be good for is glare ice traction. However, here in Upstate NY, snow has already fallen a few times and whether it be pure fluff or heavy lake effect, the snow packs to the bottom of these boots, making it impossible for my daughter to walk. Literally 3 inches of snow pack on the ball and heel of the boots, and we only had 2 inches of snow. She kept having to sit down and punch the snow off to keep from falling. Picture is what was left on after scrapping Absolutely ridiculous for a winter boot. Even thawing them off inside takes hours and the snow stays packed on tight. As far as sizing goes, she wears a 1 and we ordered a 3 to be able to put on wool socks and make it through our 5-6 month long winter. They seem to run slightly smaller than most brands like Totes ( also complete garbage btw) They do seem well built minus the fatal design flaw of fabric over the tread. But it's too much of an issue for this mom to allow my daughter to wear them. After 2 wears, they're on their way to Salvation Army and I cancelled the order for ones I had planned on getting my nephew. Will stick with Kamik.

Snow sticks to the bottom.
Others have mentioned snow sticking to the soles so I've added a picture because it's so unusual that it's hard to imagine. These compressed snow balls develop in a couple of minutes and the kid starts asking for a hand just to help with walking.

Daughter's favorite shoes; never worn in snow
I'm writing this review after purchasing my second pair of these boots (the first pair were outgrown). Neither pair have been worn in snow, so I cannot speak to that aspect. Unusually warm weather on our vacation meant no snow to test them out on, and it does not snow where I live. That said, my daughter absolutely loves these boots. They're her go-to pair no matter the weather or location we go to. She finds them very easy to put on, and enjoys the "clomp" sound they make on hard floors. They are very effective on rainy days in keeping her feet dry and snug and warm.

THIS PRODUCT IS GARBAGE!
I live in Minnesota. We get a ton of snow and wear nothing but boots outdoors for 4-6 months out of the year. I purchased these boots in the spring to replace the pair that my kid had outgrown, knowing he would outgrow these before next winter. They seemed to have decent reviews, and the price seemed good. When I initially received them, I was pleased: they fit well, my kid said they were comfortable, and they seemed like they would be warm. But then my kid wore them outside to play on the snow. The rubber portion of the boot is fine, but the fabric portion, which runs from the ankle up to the calf, ABSORBS water like a sponge and soaks my child’s feet!!! There’s no water resistance or inner lining AT ALL!!!! When my kid wears these boots, I need to put his feet in plastic shopping bags before putting the boots on to prevent his feet from getting wet and frost bitten!!! When he takes them off, I need to stick a hair dryer inside them to dry them out!!! Maybe these boots are okay in climates that don’t get more than 2 or 3 inches of snow, but in Minnesota where we get lots of snow, and kids spend a lot of time playing in the snow, these boots are HORRIBLE. I won’t even donate them, they’re going in the trash as soon as the snow melts...God forbid anyone else should be stuck with these AWFUL boots!!! This product doesn’t deserve even one star...it deserves ZERO stars!!!

These boots were of good quality but they run very small
These boots were of good quality but they run very small. My son wears size 4 and I ordered both 4 & 5 (had to exchange the 4 for the size 5) and had to return them both. That would mean his next possible size would be size 6 and that seems a bit out of whack for proper shoe sizing. At any rate, Amazon made the whole experience flawless and effortless. I applaud Amazon on making the return/exchange so easy for the consumer. I especially like the resealable reusable bag the shoes were delivered in that allowed me to print the return label and just drop them off at the local UPS store. Very easy and I was truly delighted that the return didn't further my frustration over the boot sizing. Thanks Amazon.

Ridiculous Design - were they ever tested on real children?
These boots were impossible to fit on our child's foot. The Instep is extremely tight and narrow so much so you have to almost use a 'screwing' motion to get a toddler's foot into the boot. The design is thoughtless without consideration of the actual shape of a toddler's foot. The zipper on the front of the boot should go much further down the boot to give a wide open access to place child's foot inside. Then the boot could be zipped up after the child's foot was resting inside on the foot bed. Ridiculous design! I give it 2 stars because the color and quality of the material seemed decent enough. I wonder if these boots were ever market tested on real children?
