How sturdy is he? Will he take lots of big hugs and pulls from a 1 year old?

i'm a 64 year old grandmother and my husband gave this to me for my birthday because of my love of elephants. we also loved it because we knew our grandchildren would absolutely love it! and they do. right now it has been appealing to our 2 1/2 yr. old and 1 1/2 yr. old. the younger one, who loves music, has learned how to push the button in the foot and start the music, then she walks around hugging it while it's singing and then starts over again....over and over. now because it is my toy... : ) ...there are rules. no one plays with it without my presence so i can keep an eye on it...i want it to last. the biggest rule, which the two girls know, is never play with the ears - don't pick it up that way or try to wiggle them....they seem to understand it and i haven't had a problem. this is a GREAT stuffie.....if you can make your child understand that if s/he fools around with the ears, the elephant can get hurt, get a boo boo....they understand. so, a long answer to your question....i think this little guy can take all the hugs one wants to give. if your one year old is a boy, i would watch him a little more often initially because they do like to figure out "how things work", if you get my meaning. i have seen other singing elephants, even with wiggly ears, but this is by far the cutest one i have seen. you will not be disappointed and more importantly, neither will your 1 year old. hope this helps.
