Fresh Galangal 8 oz.

We never had galanda before. Saw on a cooking show. It supposed to be really good for you helps with inflammation and some use it for cold symptoms. That’s why I ordered it. Tastes similar to ginger. It was a very large piece and fresh. We are enjoying it many different ways mainly sliced or grated onto sandwiches and salads. Also soup. Oh and the shipping was fast. Thank you for making our 1st purchase of Galanda a good one.

Flavor is great, but this root is very challenging to cut. I had to use a cleaver and cutting board. Still, Great Middle Eastern taste!

I received my galangal in the mail today and it's perfect - larger than expected and FRESH. Really nice. I can't find fresh galangal where I live, so I was very excited to get such a nice piece. Thank you!

The root looks as if has been frozen for too long. It's brown and getting rotten, the ends are dry and hard. I would not buy again. 😕

I live in Delaware (USA), and it is impossible for me to find fresh (or dried) galangal. I bought two "varieties" from this seller. For some reason I thought they would be two different (perhaps greater and lesser galangal) because the pictures were different but they were both the same. I recommend buying this one over the 150 gram one as you get more bang for your buck. There was minimal mold that I had to cut off (to be expected as it is shipped like across the world/continent and shipped in a plastic bag). I wish they would ship it something besides plastic maybe muslin, cheese cloth, paper bag or even include some paper towel in the plastic bag to help prevent condensation, mold and any decay that may occur with fresh produce stored in a plastic bag for several days. The shipping was longer than preferred for fresh produce, though expected and it arrived before the expected delivery date. I used some immediately and froze the rest. Since it is from the same plant family as ginger it will do well in the freezer. I am ecstatic that I could order this online and they even sent a bit more than the advertised 8 ounces! Will definitely be buying again. I'm an avid lover and cooker of thai food and I love unique herbs/spices/vegetables. And this is a lovely spicy, pungent sort of ginger. I so wish I could find it nearby so I could use it in everything!
