Bogen 100 WATT Amplifier

We purchased the Bogen Classic C100 Amplifier to replace the same (older) model at our church. When I say "older", I mean a good 25 years older...that's how long the original one lasted! The old one began overheating and shutting down periodically. Based on its age, rather than trying to repair it, we decided to replace it.We use it to run audio in from a mixing board out to about two dozen 70V transformer- isolated balanced speakers throughout our buildings as well as audio out to a DVD recorder. It handles all of this with elegance and could do much more if needed.As mentioned, our previous amp was overheating, even when we installed an external fan to blow across the cooling fins on the back. When it heated up it was almost too hot to even touch. We had to run the output volume at about 8.With our new amp the volume only needs to be set to about 3 (otherwise it overdrives the sound) and subsequently it runs very, very cool...and with the fan we added still in place, almost cold!The build and quality of this Bogen amp is beyond professional. It's solid...even a bit heavy, but to be expected from this type of equipment. Everything about it is well made from the steel case to the control knobs, etc. This is not a hobbyist's amp, it is for pros and those that want something that will last many, many years.Prior to purchasing this amp I contacted Bogen directly to give them our requirements and get their recommendation. They recommended that we go with this one again. Since the previous one lasted more than two decades, we couldn't argue with that!FWIW we're also using Bogen BG-AT10A attenuator/volume controls for individual sound for our speakers in various locations throughout the building. The control is very high quality as well.If this one lasts half as long as our previous one, it will be terrific. Highly recommended!
