Exactly what I needed!
I’ve had trouble with the electronic style torque wrench in this small 1/4” drive size because the torque specs are so low. With this tool I can tell exactly how much torque I’m applying. This is an old design but it works perfectly. Better than the click-style and better than the beep-style. It’s easy to read the scale and the pointer design is good (almost comically large). Good tool, I recommend it.

just works
worked great for my rear end rebuild.

Doesn’t rest at true 0
For the price it does what it’s supposed to do. Nothing special or fancy. Only 4 stars because it does not rest at 0 it’s about a line or so off just about how it shows in the description pictures. Doesn’t affect function just compensate for that when using it.

Nice tool
I’ll admit that I have not yet checked the accuracy, but it seems to be well constructed and good quality. I prefer the beam style and this one works well.

Great tool, misjudged by many here.
Don’t pay attention to the negative reviews, they don’t know what they are talking about. I was a little hesitant to buy it, based on the bad reviews, but the tool is a great deal. Super simple and effective for what’s meant to do. The price is unbelievable.

Great low tech old school torque wrench
Love these simple torque wrenches that allow you to see the torque gradually approach the desired value. No batteries to replace and very easy to see exactly how much torque applied.

Should be on Zero
Maybe I shouldn’t be expecting the dial to be on zero? Returned the first one and then the same issue with the second. ARES said it needs to be calibrated. I would think this would be taken care of before leaving the manufacturing plant 🤷🏼♂️

Five Stars for this small beam torque wrench
It's a 1/4" Beam style Torque Wrench so there are "limits" in the design... so if you need the position flexibility for accessing weird angle or limited spaced nuts/bolts etc then the limits of a beam type may hinder you. However, if you usage allows you to see the guage and work on what you need to work on, this is very affordable alternative to a "click type" torque wrench. It arrived without damage in a timely manner. Is easy to use.I purchased for torquing items on a higher performance off-road bicycle with a combination of allow and carbon parts.Very happy with purchase.Note: Using "Park Carbon Assembly Lube" can help you to work within lower torque values thereby decreasing the strain of max torque on bolts and parts while still retaining maximum grip for assembly.
