This mic is expenive but it sounds amazing. I use it for live playing and recording with Steel String and Nylon String Acoustic Guitars, mandolins, and banjo. I love it!

The microphone is amazing, 5 star hi fi quality. The clip is not, it is -5 star low grade. For the money they want, the clip shouldn’t be so cheap and ineffective. I returned mine, after multiple fails on a couple of gigs. Shouldn’t have to tape it down with gaff tape, but that’s what most folks wind up doing. I’ll just stick with the mic on the stand.

At first I was questioning the comments I had seen online regarding the guitar mount. It's a great idea. However, in practice it just does not hold securely. It particularly does not hold well on guitar with edges that have a reasonable rounding. And this is for usage while making home recordings not even trying to use it for a performance or similar. The microdot cable is also quite fragile so you definitely need to take a lot of care in working with it. Overtime, however, it became worse and worse where now after about 5 months of ownership with light use in my home studio it won't hold at all. The seller has said this is not their issue, please contact DPA, so I am following that path now. The sound quality and directionality of the mic however is fantastic and it makes fantastic recordings when and if you can get it to point at your instrument.
