Indesit Genuine Tumble Dryer Rear Drum Shaft Bearing (Riveted Type)

Excellent product and easy to fit (if you have a little DIY knowledge). Took just over 2 hours along with a full clean.

Bought to replace a worn shaft on a Hotpoint Aquarius Dryer. Done the job. Instructions are basic but combined with a how to video, it’s a relatively easy job with some basic tools.

After years of use, the shaft on the back of my tumble dryer sheared off ( this will always happen eventually with the movement and weight of the drum)This replacement had all the parts needed, and was easy to fit.My original shaft collar was riveted to the back of the drum, so I had to drill these out.This replacement was easy - simply screw in place.All fitted and my tumble dryer is working again!

When you drill out the original rivets with a 5.5mm HSS bit, you will need to grind the swarf off with a Dremel or similar, as the screws you get are not long enough to get past the swarf - and the swarf will stop you tightening the piece snug and flush to the drum. Two person job - one it back hold the 8mm nut - one in the drum tightening the torx screws. There's a good youtube video of the guys doing this but his rivets had already been drilled (2nd replacement) so he doesn't mention the grinding. Good luck

This was a good replacement to get the tumble dryer back in action.My only pickup was the bolt heads are a little rough and if you have softer clothes or duvet covers, it catches and almost tore one of our duvet covers.A quick file of the rough parts and seems better.

My Indesit tumble dryer IDC85UK (2015 model) begun making an awful squeaking sound and after some research I identified shaft bearing wear as possible issue. Sure enough, upon inspection (removal of bearing cover at the back) I found the bearing being completely chewed out. I suspected that the shaft would also be worn and I opted for this kit. There is a very useful video on youtube that shows the process (type How to Replace 'New Style' Drum Shaft and Bearings in a Hotpoint or Indesit Tumble Dryer) that requires a torx screwdriver and a 5.5 HSS drill-bit (cordless driver too) to get the job done. For the IDC85UK, it is possible to do the repair without removal of the drum. I removed the top, the 2 side panels, heating element, fan, pump and rear panel to reach the shaft rivets. In retrospect, I wish I have also bought the kit "Indesit Genuine Tumble Dryer Drum Shaft Bearing Repair Kit " from amazon that includes the front drum seal and the 4 front bearing pads and replace these as well, given the fact I have more or less taken apart the appliance at this point. Mind you, you can't use the shaft included in this kit, but you will end up with a spare brass bearing and and it will cost you less than buying the aforementioned spares separately!I was also a bit concerned to find a lot of fluff inside the appliance, a worrying fire hazard. I run a thorough cleaning with the vac and made a note for an annual inspection from now on, to make sure the appliance runs safely and in good condition.

It is made well, easy to fit, all parts supplied actually fit and it saved me a couple of hundred pounds.
