This is a great product. I'm not usually into personalizing gaming devices, for me, a case will do, but I really love the new transparent look. I bought this backplate mainly because reviews mentioned improved heat dissipation, and it’s totally true. If you play mostly in handheld mode, you’ll notice it right away. Installation was a breeze, everything you need comes in the box. There’s an official video online, but the swap is so easy, you probably won’t need it. It fits the Steam Deck just like the original backplate. It also comes with additional back buttons, though I haven’t tried those yet.

Fits very well, does not increase noise in any appreciable amount. New back buttons feel great. Included tools got the job done through multiple case openings (had to troubleshoot the sticks). Very easy to do if you have even very minor previous experience opening electronics.

Excellent. Very easy to do, literally just swapping the back plates. You can add a little more thermal padding so there is more contact with the heatsink on the backplate. Easily dropped my temps by a few celcius. Do yourself a favor and look into undervolting Steam deck and adding Lossless Scaling($7 on Steam, $3 during sales). It will greatly improve your handheld experience once it’s setup. Plenty of videos on youtube explaining how to set it up.

I didn’t receive a pry tool or torx wrench. Bout the lil supplies myself other than they like this look a lot better.

Build Quality: 5/5 The materials used feel premium and sturdy. There’s no creaking, flexing, or cheapness to it—this is a serious upgrade over the stock backplate. Fit & Finish: 5/5 The fit is excellent. Once installed, the backplate feels like it was made by Valve themselves. You won’t feel any seams or edges, and it blends perfectly with the Steam Deck’s frame. Even better, it doesn’t add any bulk—your Deck will still slide into a case or stand like normal. Thermal Design: 5/5 The fan cutouts are extremely well-placed, and the inclusion of a dust filter is a thoughtful bonus. It not only keeps your Deck cool but also protects the internals from dust over time. Tools Included: 5/5 Everything you need to do the installation is included in the box. No need to dig around for specialty tools—this kit is truly all-in-one. Value for Money: 5/5 Considering the quality, included tools, and performance features, this backplate is an outstanding value. It’s hard to beat what you get at this price point.

I got this primarily because I didn't like the stock back buttons on the Steam Deck and wanted to see how well the ones on this one worked. I'm happy to say that not only was the replacement very easy, but the back buttons feel SO much better (very clicky and responsive!) than the stock ones.

I have not done any thermal testing so this review is only based on looks and ease of install. First things first, I was unblocking the product, it looks and feels amazing, only issue was the screw driver did not come with any bits. I had a kit on hand so that was fine for me, but if I had not had that, it would have been an inconvenience. I got it installed with no issues, fit is good, looks are good, and functionality seems to be good. I do have an issue with the right trigger rubbing on some part of the housing, causing an annoying scrape, I was able to file it down to ALMOST click without any rubbing, but it is still present and pretty annoying. Unfortunately, I am unable to recommend this product because of this, even if you can file that down some way, I cannot recommend a product where that is required. Now I will admit, this may just be an issue with my specific unit, but I cannot verify this without purchasing another, which I am unable to do. Good enough to where if you want to risk it, and just file it down in the event you get a unit with the same issue with mine, it will be great. But if you don't want to have to do any other extra fiddling, I would not risk it.
