Buy Upstream Petroleum Fiscal and Valuation Modeling in Excel: A Worked Examples Approach 1 by Kasriel, Ken, Wood, David (ISBN: 9780470686829) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Required Reading - I purchased this book when I was studying for my MBA to teach myself hands-on petroleum economics. I was not disappointed; this work is a pretty unique product. The excel-based examples, which build at a perfect rate, are a great way for the novice to get to grips with the mechanics of the modelling process (and experienced practitioners will pick up an array of best-practice tips). The accompanying narrative is clever, and it's very clear that the authors are accomplished in both the theory and the practice of this discipline. If you are an economics/finance/MBA student interested in the Oil & Gas sector, or a practicing Petroleum Economist, this book is required reading in my view. Dr Conor Ryan, Lead Geoscientist, Tullow Oil Plc Review: Buy it! - Great read with many practical examples - I used as a refresher after several years working on downstream fiscal modelling as a petroleum engineer. Look forward to the next book! David Petroleum Engineer

This is an excellent training course for people who want to build economic ...
Without a doubt this book is the most comprehensive book in upstream economic. The actual fact is that this is not only a book. This is an excellent training course for people who want to build economic models from scratch. Apart from the book the attached CD includes a lot of exercises with detailed explanations which in fact could be sold separately but is available free of charge. I highly recommend this book for petroleum engineers, student of economics as well as professional people who are involved somehow in upstream petroleum economics. Ken and David have done a brilliant job.

You'd better be ready if you're in any way unusual
I think the book is fine but I cannot confirm it. I bought the Kindle version knowing that I would need to download the CD/support files from somewhere. I wrote to Wiley by clicking through the email link in the book that applied to someone like me ... Kindle version buyer. NOTHING. Over a week, NOTHING. I wrote again NOTHING. I eventually went back to their site and found a live chat link ... I started chatting but was then thrown off. However, they sent a transcript of the conversation I did manage to have by email and could then talk to someone directly, albeit over email. They told me they had not received any email from me containing my proof of purchase. In the end I sent that proof of purchase FOUR times. I tried to tell them that I live in a remote part of Thailand so getting their CD to me could be problematic ... so I asked for an online link if there is one. They never answered that question. Each time they merely said, include your mailing address and we will send the CD "soon". Three weeks later and I have no idea whether my CD is on its way, if I can track the delivery ... I bought this book equally for the CD files as for the technical content and the content is not enough on its own to allow me to recreate the Excel files that I want to use.

first class material for leaning the rudiments of upstream fiscal modelling
I have just started a new job related to upstream fiscal modelling (previously from different sector doing cost and revenue modelling). I ordered and have now read most of this book which I have to say has been a great resource--I couldn't find anything that goes into the calculations detail so thanks to Ken and David for publishing! Is a very clear and lucid study. It has helped me get an idea of how things are done in the industry (e.g. the GOCF ELT thing, which still seems backward to me!?..) with some great Excel modelling techniques too. If you want to get a handle on the nuts and bolts of upstream project modelling this is an extremely accessible and relevant guide to help you do so.

The most complete book on this subject with Excel examples
Study and work with this excellent book, you will become an expert on this subject in three months or less.

Not a course to progress and dig into the upstream economics, but rater an introduction for young students. There is only the minimum on fiscal modeling as none of the more or less recent progressive instruments is presented, no comparison or sensitives between approaches, no risk or information importance discussion, Excel models does not bring much as they are very simplified, no realistic example from the field ... Comments are quitte misleading so if you need something to go beyond and a progressive but finally in depth analysis of fiscal modeling in upstream petroleum, you need probably another book..

I was so satisfied of buying this book. It is really worthy to buy the book at a price of €113, both for Oil and Gas professionals and student. It is more than enough to learn and practice Evaluation of Oil and Gas Projects. I hope new edition could bring more insights about oil and gas contracts law. I congratulate and wish all the best to the authors for their fantastic work. Dr. Arzika

I am about half way through this book and have found it to be a great resource for everything from excel tips, modeling and layouts, and valuation itself. The files that are provided via download/cd-rom are structured well and easy to follow. I come from the technical side of things and have enjoyed going through this book to learn more of the financial side. A note for those ordering the hard copy: I ordered the hard copy version of the book, and it did not originally come with the CD-ROM that accompanies the book. However, the files can still be accessed from a download link as noted for e-reader purchases in the product description. I am not sure if this has become a blanket change for everyone now that cd's are being used less and less, but don't become frustrated like I was initially if you don't see the cd-rom in your order.
