Best algae treatment ever

I’ve been using the PoolRX+ in our 15,000-gallon pool for the past few months, and it has truly been a transformative experience. For years, we struggled with relentless algae problems every summer, which made maintaining our pool a frustrating and labor-intensive task. Thankfully, the PoolRX+ has completely changed that. Installation was a breeze. I started by cleaning the pool filters thoroughly, which is crucial for optimal performance. Once the filters were clean, I simply installed the PoolRX+ unit into our pool filter system. It was as straightforward as promised—no extra tools or complicated procedures required. The results have been nothing short of amazing. Since adding the PoolRX+, our pool has stayed consistently clear, and algae has become a thing of the past. It’s remarkable how much easier pool maintenance has become. What used to be a major chore has turned into a quick and effortless task. We’ve also noticed a significant reduction in the amount of chemicals we need to use. The PoolRX+ effectively reduces the need for heavy chemical treatments, which not only saves us money but also creates a safer environment for our family. With the PoolRX+, our pool water remains clean and balanced with far fewer chemicals, which is a huge plus. The unit has proven to be durable and reliable, lasting between 5 to 6 months before needing replacement. This longevity ensures that we get through the entire summer season without any interruptions or additional purchases. One thing to note is that the PoolRX+ raises the copper levels in the water. While this is a natural outcome and not a major concern, it’s worth being aware of. The benefits far outweigh this minor issue, as the copper helps in maintaining algae-free water. In summary, the PoolRX+ has been an absolute game-changer for us. It has drastically improved our pool maintenance routine and allowed us to enjoy a clean, algae-free pool with minimal effort. I highly recommend the PoolRX+ to anyone dealing with algae issues or looking to simplify their pool care. It’s a fantastic investment that delivers impressive results!

I've been using this PoolRx device for almost a year and a half. It is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! Prior to this, I was using a floating Solar Shock unit which I purchased online from Costco. The Solar Shock worked well, but required weekly copper rod cleaning that was a PITA!!! It was messy, requiring you to scrape the copper rod with a wire brush, and soak the screen filter housing in CLR to keep it from getting completely calcified from hard water. During a calcium build-up cleaning by a professional company, I inquired about their weekly pool service (just to see what it would cost). When i got the quote from them, I noticed that they required that you have a PoolRx unit in order for them to honor the price they quoted. I had never heard of it, so I did a quick search and found that it's basically a MUCH BETTER version of the Solar Shock unit. You stick this item inside the pump basket. When your pool pump runs for normal cleaning, the chemicals inside this device disperse into your pool (it's invisible...no noticeable chemical smells or color). As these chemicals pass back through the pump basket, they interact with the copper rod located on the inside of the device and it actively keeps algae from growing in your pool. You still need to maintain some chlorine in your pool, but it has literally cut my chlorine usage IN HALF during the summer months in AZ. I went from 4+ chlorine tabs per week (in the 110+ degree summer months) down to 2. In the winter months, I use about 1 chlorine tablet every 2 weeks. I also have a unique "water wall" that acts like a high-end spa where water flows down the wall and creates a unique ambiance. The top of this water wall has a trough that stores a lot of water and during the summer months, that water can get NASTY in a hurry. I run the pump for this twice a day during the summer months to cycle the water, but with this PoolRx unit, a couple chlorine tabs and weekly shock treatments (necessary for my setup) my pool is crystal clear with absolutely no algae build-up (even when the water temps reach the 90s). Several summers back, even with the Solar Shock unit, I could not get the algae under control and eventually had to drain the pool, get it acid washed and start over. Take it from someone who has to maintain a pool in AZ, this thing WORKS! You need to add the refill chemicals every 4 to 6 months to keep everything working and you need to replace the whole PoolRx unit every year because the copper rod dissolves over time. For peace of mind knowing I won't have algae, the cost savings of 1/2 the chlorine usage, and it doesn't require maintenance...this thing is absolutely getting 5 stars from me. Hope this review helps.

My pool guy had recommended this stuff to me and offered me a discount on weekly service if I let him use it in my pool. He charged me $90 a year for the PoolRx (which he didn't name, he just called it a "mineral treatment" and I later found out what it was) and discounted my service $10 per month, so it was a net savings for me, it made his job easier, and now I see it probably saved him money on chlorine, too. I later took over the pool maintenance on my own to save money and looked for advice online. I found a very knowledgeable community on a certain website that was full of great advice and pool care tips, but some of the more vocal, condescending members of the forum were very against using any type of mineral additives like Pool Rx and would ridicule anyone that said they were going to. It seemed that more than anything they were stuck in their ways, but they had some credibility and made some plausible arguments against it, so I followed the advice and was using only liquid chlorine to sanitize and keep algae at bay. I was having to shock my pool a lot more than I had liked and the algae still appeared in some areas even though I was keeping my pool at 5 ppm chlorine most of the time. That's higher than I wanted to keep levels at but algae would get bad if I didn't (and yes, stabilizer and Ph were ON POINT). I was going through a lot of chlorine. After about a year of this, I said the heck with it and bought the Pool Rx. Huge difference, right away. I bought the 7.5-20K gallon size for my 22K gallon pool because that was what my pool guy had used. It has worked great and I have had no algae and no problems with chlorine levels kept at 1-1.5 ppm through the hottest 4 months of a Phoenix summer. Chlorine has even dropped to 0.5 ppm a couple of times when I had to go longer than normal between servicing it, but I still had no problems. I have not experienced any of the negatives that the "experts" had warned about. No increased scaling or staining, no green hair, no problems with the pump or equipment. Just clear water, a pool that is easier to maintain, and a pretty good savings on chlorine. I added this canister in May and I plan to add the booster in October, then I'm starting over with another canister next May.

I have a Pebble salt water pool with cartridge filters. I helicopter my pool so the chemistry is ALWAYS correct. I have clean filters and skimmer, no debris. Our pool water here in Phoenix hits 90+ degrees in summer. After all my due diligence, I found algae on the walls. I could not believe it! I had MORE than enough chlorine, CYA around 40, almost no phosphates, and all other numbers in perfect range. Discouraged does not even describe how I felt. The water was not green water, just the beginnings of algae on the walls. After shocking and (treating for phosphates out of desperation), two weeks later it began to happen again. This is when I reluctantly decided to try PoolRx. I just had a visceral reaction to the thought of putting metals in my pool, but after doing as much research on the product as possible, I decided to give it a go. Before PoolRx, I was running my pump 9 hours a day with the chlorine generator at 100%. My chlorine would be around 3. Now, after 3 days of PoolRx I'm running my pump 7 hours a day and keep turning my generator down. I am now down to 40% and Chlorine is still at 3. The water is more clear and gorgeous than I've ever seen it. I'm still nervous about lowering Chlorine down to 1, which is what they recommend, but I'll see. So far, I'm very impressed with the results. To avoid problems others may have had, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE EXACTLY!!! I REMOVED my filter cartridges, added PoolRx to the PUMP basket and ran the pump for a day. Then I installed brand new cartridges (only because mine were 5 years old). Testing daily, my chlorine started rising so I began slowly dropping my pump run time which was 9 hours, keeping an eye on my Chlorine. 7 hours is about minimum for me so the floor cleaners can do the job. After a few days the Chlorine was still 3. After that I dropped my SWG to 70%, still no problem, then 50%, still no problem. The Grandkids were over yesterday in the pool so I expected Chlorine loss, but it didn't happen. This morning my Chlorine was at least 2, so I dropped my SWG (Chlorine generator) to 40%. I'll check again in the morning. At this point I am becoming a believer! UPDATE: I'm turning it OFF today to let my Chlorine drop to 1 which is what PoolRx recommends. Based on my previous knowledge, this was scary to me. Considering that before I had to run it at 100% all day long just to hold Chlorine at 3, I can't tell you how impressed I am with this product. I should add that Chlorine demand is probably low due to inactivity but before I ALWAYS had to have my generator running 100% for 9 hours a day REGARDLESS and then add MORE on active days. Again my water temp is 90 right now and the sun is screaming hot all day here in Phoenix area. Currently my pump is running 6 hours a day and my generator is at 50%. Chlorine is at 1 (I check it everyday). I have CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER LIKE FROM A BOTTLE, NO SIGN OF ALGAE ANYWHERE. I'm saving electricity and my expensive salt cell is only working half as hard. Salt cells raise pH as well, so my pH rises more slowly now. Regardless of what some others have experienced, I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. CAUTION - BEWARE OF COUNTERFIETS !!!
