Good little keyboard with a terrible manual.
I am giving this a five stars because I am thoroughly enjoying using the keyboard to learn beginning classical songs like Minuet in C. Unlike the the Juno D6 I bought, the keyboard is more intuitive. I still find it confusing regarding how to use the arpeggiator and scenes. The manual is not very helpful and came with a lengthy errata sheet, which didn't help. Roland needs to put more effort into the technical writing component of their products. A good solid manual that goes step by step into even the most basic functions would be helpful. But I liked the ease with which I could select tones, split the keyboard and add a scene with the split keyboard sounds (fretless bass in the left hand, the default/first synth sound in the right hand). I wish it allowed me to save a favorite scene to a favorites list. It only allows you to save favorite tones to the favorites list, and I can't even figure out how to do that. The keys feel fine to me, and there are many great sounds. I also got this at about $85 off on a Black Friday sale, which I appreciated.

Every family should own one of these.
Absolutely amazing for the price. Tons of classic synths and drum kits and even sound effects. You could make a movie with this thing. Not just the music, but the sound effects too. It was so much fun to play, I have two more kids that want to take piano lessons now.

A decent beginner keyboard.
It is a decent keyboard for what it is meant for and for the price. The sounds are great for its class; roland's ZEN-core certainly sounds a lot better than the sounds that come with offerings from Casio and Yamaha in this price range. Yes connections are limited to a single 2.5 mm headphone jack, but it is line level so you can connect it to a pair of powered monitors (or a mixer. or an audio interface) without any loss in quality. The built in speakers are meh as I knew they would be so I purchased a pair of Mackie CR 4.5 and a 2.5 mm to RCA Y cable and it sounds pretty good. If you're using it for audio production with a daw, it supports audio over USB as well. The built in bluetooth midi works flawlessly which is important if you are using it in conjunction with an ipad, mac or pc with BT capability. Lastly, getting to what you want is pretty intuitive. Sounds are arranged in categories, basic functions are accessed with easy to understand buttons. Some features are hidden in menus, but just read the manual and you'll be fine. Build quality- Good enough for home use. Keybed- Honestly Roland could have done better. The keys are springy and not beefy enough for my liking. They could have went with better quality semi-weighted keys, but if you're used to synth action keys, they'll do just fine. Connectivity- There are of course no quarter inch jacks, but the bluetooth midi and audio over usb are decent. Value for money- The Zen-core sound engine is really where the GoKeys shines. In my opinion you just cannot beat the versatility. There are a lot of decent quality sounds in there (1000+). That said, the acoustic pianos are usable but certainly not what this engine was made for, but hey synth action keys do not do piano well anyways. So who's the Gokeys 3 for? Learners- Pair the GoKeys 3 with an ipad, add your favorite learning app and you have a great start for new learners without breaking the bank. (I personally purchased this for my 8 year old daughter). Musicians that want something portable to practice or compose with in addition to their main gear. Producers on a budget. Who isn't it for? Those that want to use it on stage. It's simply not meant for that. Composers that want to work outside of a daw.

Portable, Sexy, Amazing Sound
I had doubts about the small speakers, but they turned out perfect for me. Within minutes I pulled up the Soft Stage EP sound and was improvising for hours. Months later and it is the only sound I've used. The keys are a little slippery, but I've gotten used to it. I was going to get a different pitch bend controller 3d printed. It looks easy enough to do, but I've gotten used to it too. And because I'm a trombonist, I use that pitch bend a lot! It's funny how I translate those bending ideas when I'm playing a real piano! m o t h

Toy
This is nothing like advertised. While it looks good this is like a toy. It is small and the sounds aren’t a good as shown. It’s not as fun to play as I anticipated and I don’t feel like I’m playing a professional instrument. For $300 plus dollars I expected more.
