An outstanding large-format monitor
A bright, crisp, fast monitor that's perfect for gaming. OLED is stunning over anything else on the market. It wipes the floor with all other technologies. Its not very good at all with text, so doesn’t make a very good dual-use gaming/work monitor. Although passible as a work monitor it will soon start to grate your eyes. Too tip: if you do want ti use it for work, set to dark theme and its much better. White/light colours as the background are useless and alias to the point they will give you eye strain. The 138fps true refresh makes it really smooth, and HDR makes everything beautiful.Other reviewers complained about it not sleeping/waking correctly, not realising this was a long-standing Windows 10 bug - not the firmware of this monitor. On windows 11, it sleeps/wakes perfectly correctly.I've gone over all features and can't find any issues in any settings.I chose the PG48UQ 47.5 inch display, as I play some FPS games, but predominantly MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft. This allows me to see every detail of other players activity in a raid, and correct them, as raid-leader. My old 32" monitor didn't allow this - despite sitting on top of it.I therefore personally recommend the PG48UQ over the the 40" for the sheer immersion. It will take you a day or two to get used to the size, but once you do, there is no going back in my experience. For pure FPS shooters, the dual-mode 240/400fps versions may be more preferable, but this is still perfectly adequate. The PG48UQ is the best large-format monitor by miles however (at time of writing).Update: It is fairly mandatory to update the firmware; the 2025 firmware being latest. This turbocharges the display in many ways. You must do this to get the best from this monitor.

Amazing picture, but some functionality is disabled when using HDR - SEE EDIT!
The colours and sharpness on this monitor are the best I have even seen. I had a good LCD monitor before this, but the PG32UCDM is in another league. The pixel response time is phenomenal (0.03ms) and beats anything that an LCD can manage by a huge margin. 240Hz refresh rate too...For gaming, it's as good as it gets. However, in terms of functionality it's not perfect - and in my opinion it should be perfect when paying over £1k.As an example: The monitor has a "proximity sensor" feature that dims the screen if you're not in front of the monitor. This is an excellent feature because QDOLED panels degrade over time; brighter pixels degrade faster and the panels can suffer from "burn-in" if a static image is present for too long - especially if the image is bright. EXCEPT the proximity feature is disabled if you're running the monitor in HDR mode, which you should be to get the most out of it.There are a whole bunch of features that disable when in HDR. Another example is the "Game mode visual" option. When in HDR, it sets to "Game mode racing" (at least on mine) and there's no way to change that. The ASUS forums are utterly useless. People post issues on there and the only response from ASUS is "our technicians will look into it". Same copy-paste for everything and no follow-up.The monitor came with firmware MCM103. I updated to MCM105 but more recent stock is shipping with 106. There's no way to obtain 106 from the ASUS site. People have been asking on the forums for months but ASUS don't respond.I'm still very pleased with this monitor, but it's worth bearing in mind that ASUS support is bad and their RMA process in notoriously poor. We should expect better when paying a grand for a top-end monitor.Edit: So, they finally released firmware 108 and fixed the proximity issue and the lack of choices in HDR. Those were the gripes, so upgrading the review to 5 stars. It really is a very good monitor.

Wait for Stable / Trusted firmware Releases - Otherwise solid option / though a little expensive
The 42 Inch size is just right, I'm just over 2ft away from the screen and I've been using this for over a month now.I use this for gaming and work/productivity - so using 8+ hours a day- Display Port to a CalDigit TS4- HDMI 2.1 to main desktop running 3090- No issues with burn in so far, still early days.- General day to day emails/web/admin- Gaming (Overwatch/Call of Duty/ etc)- Light photo editingI have this attached to an Ergotron HX with the HD Head a little still to move around because of the size and weight but stays in place but still gives me the flexibility to move it around.Did have to get a 100x100 to 300/400 adapter to get this attached but solid otherwise.Pros- 4K 138, Feels like my old 240hz 1440p LCD in regard to responsiveness- Adaptive Sync - Gsync Compatible (Seems to be working, not totally sure but feels like it's not as good as a Gsync module but that might just be me)- 42 Inch size is just about right size for work and also gaming- Uniform brightness works great - rarely notice brightness dips when extending a full white window- Connectivity options, DisplayPort, 2 HDMI 2.1 and 2 2.0 Ports - can connect loads to this thing.- Inclusion of a USB Hub- OSD is really easy to navigate- OLED protection features are not noticeable from my point of view (assuming it does the job to protect the panel)- Speakers are good for general day to day/Teams/Zoom Calls, I'd go elsewhere for music and gaming :)Cons- Included Stand, didn't even bother installing it as it would have been a problem for the depth of my desk.- Firmware releases from Asus could be better tested, maybe wait a little before jumping on it right away- The tripod mount at the top of the screen is pointless - it would be nice if they included an attachment but it's too high for a webcam from my point of view.- The included cables are little on the short side, would be nice if they included another meter for cleaner runs.- UK Power Cable provided is not a left/right angle out, so it kind of sticks out the side of the screen- The cable cover where the inputs are, a little tight, as this is magnetic doesn't really close properly if you put to many cables in there. There were some issues with the firmware that were pushed out by Asus that had some issues such as- Bricking on v32 - this was removed (took them a little time to do this)- V31 had sleep issues if you were running the display in OC 138hz mode, though I did see someone complaining about this and they were button mashing the remote. (Press it once, wait a sec for it to turn off and then press it again and it would come back to life)- v34 is out and seems the most stable, I did have a sleep issue still, but I think this was my TS4 dock as since updating the firmware here it's been good for the last dayGenerally speaking, this is a good quality monitor the price is a high ask but if you can why not.Performance is good and colours pop and are accurate. The biggest points here are OLED / Blacks are Black, and the near instant responsiveness puts it on par with a 240hz monitor (Respectively a Dell AW2721D which I was using previously as the main monitor)Firmware issues are behind them now from what I can tell for the most part.
