This is a commodity consumer-grade 5-port unmanaged 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet switch. THUMBS UP: + Functions as expected. Tested all 5 ports; all autoneged to 1G when paired with a 1G peer. Did not test for 10M/100M operation. + Measured transfer rate for random data files using rsync was around 900 Mb/s. The 'missing' 10% is most likely just due to my testing methodology, not any fault of the unit itself. + LEDs: Power indicator, and a single LED per port: Solid indicates link up, flashing is data transfer. All LEDs are green, and kinda wuss brightness-wise, if y'ask me. Little hard to see off-axis. + The power cord is 60 cm (excluding the length of the power adapter and connector). + The case is indeed metal, as advertised. Appears to be reasonably robust. + Stated power requirement is 5V @ 1A, and a wall-wart power adapter is supplied with the unit. It can also be powered via USB using an ordinary USB-to- barrel DC cable (5.5 x 2.1mm barrel connector), which are widely available (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SNC45F). THUMBS DOWN: - The ad lists no dimensions at all. This is a pet peeve of mine about Amazon ads in general. I don't understand why sellers don't provide dimensions on every product they sell. They can show dimensions in the photos, or state them in the bullet points... so easy, but so many Amazon ads are missing this basic info. The dimension of the switch itself are 8.7W x 5.0D x 2.4H cm. The wall-wart is 5.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm (not including the cord boot at the long end.) - Somewhat amusingly, as other reviewers have pointed out, the little instructional brochure that is shipped with this unit does not actually pertain to this product itself, if you can believe that. Not that this device really even needs instructions, but nevertheless, it's amusing that the brochure documents an entirely different line of commercial switches made by the same manufacturer, and this 5-port consumer switch is not among them. - Main complaint: The RJ45 connectors are oriented "upside down" w.r.t. common sense: The mounting slots are on the bottom surface of the device (opposite the side where the LED are) and the RJ45 sockets are oriented with the release clips facing the bottom side! So if the device is mounted on a vertical surface, like a wall, the RJ45 release clips are on the wall side, instead of facing the user. This makes it annoyingly difficult to depress the clip to release the connector, especially if your RJ45 happens to have one of those stiff strain relief boots that we all love so well. Those stiff boots are difficult enough to release even when the clip is facing you; but when it's facing away, as on this unit, it's nearly impossible to release without using some little tool to get behind the RJ45 and "lift" the release clip towards you while working from the wrong side. This criticism applies even if the unit is mounted horizontally. There's just not enough clearance between the mounting surface and the release clip to get a finger in there easily. SUMMARY: I'd have been happy to give this product 5 stars, because functionally it's fine, but I took off one star for the lack of dimensions in the ad, the provision of the wrong instruction brochure, and the poorly thought out orientation of the RJ45 connectors, which imo is just an outright physical design blunder.

It performs well especially for the price. This test was on short runs of a cheapo cat5e cable and a improper aluminum cat7ish cable, so far from ideal. Works fine; easy to set up

Well, I would say that the answer to the question above is whether or not this splitter performs as advertised in the seller's link. The only way to answer the question is to test it rather than regurgitate stuff that is already in the link. So that is what I did. I have gigabit internet at my house that normally tests out at approximately 940mbps to 952mbps on both download and upload speeds via Ookla's bandwidth tests. I ran a cable directly from my Gateway/Router to port one on this device (after plugging it into a power source). I disconnected the cables that run to two Core I7 computers that sit within a couple of feet from the router and connected them to ports two and three of this device. Then I tested the speeds of each computer. On the primary I had multiple ongoing internet connections drawing bandwidth, including several Nest IQ outdoor cameras with the Nest app open showing the live feeds. Also had a couple of connections on the second computer. Test speeds on the primary were 947.86mbps down and 944.77mbps up. Test speeds on the second one were 947.35mbps down and 943.58mbps up. The tests were run with BOTH computers connected through this splitter and with both drawing bandwidth. And this happened without ANY configuration on my end. This splitter works as advertised and that is what matters. I like the inclusion of a corded power supply that plugs into a standard wall outlet rather than a hokey USB to USB C power supply that requires you to use yet another existing USB outlet or USB wall block adapter. There are a couple of things I do NOT like. One, the power cord is only 2 ft. long. If you have your gateway/router sitting on a desk or on a specialized shelf that contains other devices (like I do at home), a 2 ft. cord is inadequate. And, the cost to add a few feet to that cord at the factory would have been minimal. Two, its a good thing that the splitter arrived in working order without the need for adjusting the settings. You can log into the device once its connected to your network and change the settings (apparently). Fortunately, I did not have to do that. The included instructions are terrible in my opinion. They are written in mice type, so I scanned them into my PC so I could read them. They are not written in what I consider to be sensible style. Rather, they seem to be written by somebody who understands the technical wizardry of the splitter, but DOES NOT understand the need to write in a way that makes sense for the average "non IT expert equivalent" user. I am going to use this splitter at our lake house behind the cabinet that our LG OLED sits on. Fortunately, there I can use a multi-outlet surge protector that can sit unseen behind the cabinet. So can the Ethernet splitter and it can sit right beside the surge protector. I have the TV connected directly to the Ethernet jack and a DirecTV Stream device connected via WIFI. Now I will be able to hard-wire both and will still have two more Ethernet ports available for other devices. Note: If you have gigabit speed, or even have four or five hundred mbps speed and want this device to work properly, you must use the power adapter so it will be able to provide equivalent speed to all four ports. Otherwise, you will be merely splitting the bandwidth that you have among several devices and your speed will drop for all of them. And I said "four ports" because, technically this is not really a five port splitter. I was expecting one RJ45 port for the incoming bandwidth with five other ports for splitting. That is not what you get. There are five total and you must use one for the incoming bandwidth. I started with a five-star rating, then dropped it to four, then changed it back to five before submitting the review. I chose stay at five because of the performance of the splitter and the price ($9.99 as of the date of this review).

Estoy satisfecho con el rendimiento del producto. Perfecto cuando quieres diseñar una red pequeña en casa ó homelab. Ahora lo negativo que observe; al principio cuando empece a probarlo me dio velocidades de 100 Mbps. Pero despues de estar probando como unos 10 minutos de repente empezo a responder con las especificaciones de 2.5 Gps y 10 Gbps. Y desde entonces ya no se repitio esta situacion. Tengo la teoria que el switch se conecto algun sitio de internet y descargo una actualizacion de firmware y se auto instalo. Como es un modelo que no tiene interfaz de usuario de tipo "unmanaged switch". Por esta razon le quito una estrella. Esta teoría es solo una teoría porque solo sucedio en los primeros 10 minutos que se encendio este switch por primera vez Y despues nunca se repitio la situacion.

Never got to test it as it only came with an EU adapter. Why is it even sold on Amazon.ie if it doesn't have a UK adapter or at least put it in the description. They are detachable adapters so why they can't throw a UK piece in I dont know. I gave it 2 stars because it does look great. It is tiny, which is perfect if you are looking for a small switch.

Nice small unit. I used it so that I could connect the tv, a fire stick, and an idea shield o a wired internet connection using just a single cable from my modem to the tv unit. Has been working well for a few months, doesn’t get that warm. Quite happy with performance
