Dog Mate Small Dog Door, White, Small (Pack of 1)

It was finally time to get a door installed for our small chihuahua and cat to come and go freely. We made the decision to not put this in our door sp we could still have our screen door. Next to our front door was a non-functioning wall heater that we removed, framed in and installed the pet door. This pet door was easy to install and has held up well to the constant use that it has received I've the last couple of months.This door comes with all of the hardware that you need to install it. I am fortunate that my husband is good with this kind of thing and my main job is to hand tools. Honestly, after seeing him install this door I believe that even I could have done it without him.Function of the door has been great. It locks well and even kept our pot belly pig from opening it while locked. It does get dirty from our other animals sticking their noses through but it is easily cleaned and does not smudge. The size is perfect for both our small dog and cat to get in and out comfortably.Great price on a good sturdy product that I would recommend to others.

I had installed a cat door rated for "up to 15 pounds" which is what my Maine Coon weighs, but his big barrel chest and shaggy fur made him get stuck in the opening. So I replaced it with this Small Dog Door, and it is perfect.This door was very easy to install, and it fits my non-standard very thick hollow door. It took me about an hour to make the hole in the door and completely finish the job. It is very sturdy, and the frame fits together well. The clear flap swings freely.My big cat is timid, and I thought that the sound of the magnet snapping into place would scare him, so I removed it. Also the red clips on the edge of the door that regulate access seemed to scare him, so I pulled those off too. I don't need those locking features, as it is installed in my bedroom door. The flap works smoothly, neither cat gets stuck, their tails do not get stuck. It works perfectly to keep the AC in my room at night, but lets the cats come and go to check on me during the night.This pet door is the best I have ever bought. Compared to other less well made cat doors that I have had from other retail outlets, this pet door is priced well, too.

I really like this small dog door although I probably should have bought the medium size. There is only one small issue I have with it. The switches at the bottom don't move very easily. They are stiff and hard to lock and unlock. Other than that, it was actually pretty easy to install. It took about an hour because I wanted it perfect. I placed it in a metal door. I really didn't want to mess this up. There are other reviews saying the screws aren't long enough but this was never designed to connect the two halves together. It states clearly in the instructions that each side is screwed to each side of the door. This is actually perfect for a metal door. I just drilled a very small pilot hole and then put the screws in. I put the entire dog door in place and screwed everything down. Then I removed it to refinish the door and then put it back in place. I didn't have any issues doing this.Now as far as the dogs are concerned, I have two that use it and one that won't get near it. We have two Westies and they fit through without any issues. Then we have a miniature greyhound. I wasn't sure if she would fit through the door but she isn't as high strung as the Westies. She will wait long periods before going out. The Westies want in and out a hundred times a day which is why we bought this. Come to find out, the greyhound fits through the door but she just ducks down a little. I still wish I had gone with the medium size though. I may go back and buy the bigger one.Overall, it's fairly easy to install. The template is great. The instructions are well written. And the product itself seems pretty sturdy. The magnet is fairly strong, but not a problem for a dog running through it.

Works very well!! My daughter bought an Ikea cabinet for her cats' litter box and cut holes at one end and on on the inner wall to fit these dog doors. The litter box was on one side, with a wall and this dog door; then a litter mat on the other side and another dog door for the cats to leave the cabinet. (she easily removed the flaps...didn't need them for a litter cabinet.The dog doors fit perfectly and are the perfect size for the cats! The cats were climbing in and inspecting the cabinet immediately when finished and even did their business in the litter box within minutes of my daughter finishing the cabinet.Success!! Litter contained, cats have privacy from the dog when they do their business, and the cabinet looks really nice.We searched a lot of dog doors before deciding on these. Glad we did. Well made and installed easily.
