Are these toxic free products ?

I am not sure 100%!!But when you turn them on and have a glass of wine , they take toxicity out of your day. My wife and I enjoy them on our patio and have recieved many compliments on our set. Love the remote control !!

can i paint or decorate with dried flowers or stickers?

I think you can decorate it just like a regular candle. It feels just like a regular candle. Stick pins might be a problem. Hope that helps.

How do i open the battery compartment on the remote?

When holding remote so that bottom is FACING you you will see a little square seperate from battery tray, you need to squeeze that towards the tray as you pull the tray out. It's a release, it's a bit of a pain but that's how you do it!
