The Perfect, Modern Tool for Audio Cassettes
I was working on a video for our church and needed a way to pull some audio off of an old audio cassette. After looking through my options, I settled on the Reshow Portable Walkman Cassette player. After spending some quality time with it, I definitely think I made the right decision. This is a high quality cassette player that feels like it just fell out of 1990, albeit with some modern improvements. To get started, all you need to do is pop a couple of AA batteries in the back and a cassette in the front and you're ready to go. You can hit play and you'll immediately hear sound coming out of the onboard speaker. While the sound out of that speaker isn't going to blow you away, it's loud enough and serviceable. And let's be honest, nobody listens to a Walkman that way anyway. That's what the convenient headphone jack is for. The sound is great for the headphones - or at least, as great as a cassette can offer. And the play, stop, record, etc. buttons all feel nice and solid. To put it simply, it's a great little Walkman. But that's probably not the main reason you're looking at it. You're wondering how well it records audio from cassette to computer. And I can say that it works perfectly. It's got a USB-C output that makes it super easy to hook up to a computer. And it took no work at all for my computer to read it and for me to begin recording onto Adobe Audition. All in all, it was a simple solution. I'd call it the perfect modern tool for audio cassettes, whether you're hoping to record some to a computer or just listen to some old tapes while you go on a jog or do work around the house.

Worth the $
Like most people, I've switched to streaming services for most of my music listening. I still have a CD player and have kept some of my favorite CDs. I also have a turntable for that analog experience. But, my expensive (at the time) Nakamichi cassette deck stopped working years ago. I ran across a cassette tape a couple months ago that I've been wanting to listen to. But, didn't have a working cassette player. So, I went on to Amazon and found a few cassette players. There was one that was even less expensive than this but it didn't have a built-in speaker. So, I spent an extra $10 and got this little guy. It worked to play my tape of interest and a few others I ran across. The sound quality isn't great, but it's not terrible either. If you plug in some headphones, it's not too bad. There's some wow and flutter, but again, not a deal-breaker. It even has a cable to dub your tapes onto a computer using Audacity. So, is it a spectacular cassette player? No. Is it worth the money? Absolutely! In terms of cost/benefit, it's a great deal.

Constant drumming/thumping Sound Quality
Very disappointed in the sound quality. From the beginning there was a noticable drumming sound that unfortunately transferred over to the recording. This artifact was on all tapes so wasn't present in the cassette. I'm hoping this is just a defective model and plan to exchange it for a different one and see if it works better. Also, the Audacity instructions don't match up with the program anymore however, I was able to eventually figure it out. ****So I received the replacement today. Once again the drumming was present. However, I took a stab in the dark that audacity had the capability to remove the background noise. It does. I tried it with one side of a tape and it worked perfectly. Thought I was good to go with the work around. Flipped the tape over and I have tried for 3 hours to convert the other side. The software is no longer capable and since the instructions with the tape recorder don't match with Audicity menu there is no way to troubleshoot. I'm giving up and trying a different company. Do not recommend this piece of equipment unless you are very familiar with audio recording programs. In my opinion this operation is NOT plug and play.

So far, it's been great! I've only used it to listen to cassette tapes so not sure about the recording.

Budget friendly, value for the $
I am in the process of transferring old cassette tapes to digital. This little cassette converter does the job well. This device is definitely worth the money, especially if your tapes are in good condition. I am working with cassettes that are over 40 years old so I am having to use more than one 3rd party program. Its obviously not high end so the sound quality is not amazing but it does what I expected it to do. I am using Audacity with Davinci resolve (Fairlight) to optimize and add clarity so I could share the audio with family on youtube. 5 stars, its an easy plug and play, no hassle device.

I have a stack of old cassettes that I can't play anymore, I don't even have a cassette player, yet I held on to these tapes for decades. Many of these tapes/songs are not even available to download anywhere, so when I saw this device at this really cheap price, I didn't even hesitate and immeadiatly clicked "order"! Quick facts: -It runs on AA batteries but ONLY when NOT connected to a USB-C cable! When connected via USB-C (included cable), you MUST remove the batteries. They also threw in a headphone jack cable. -It has the same form factor as the old "Walkman" I had as a teen, very nostalgic, I was a bit vexed it doesn't have an onboard rechargeable battery but after handling it I came to appreciate the fact that it's basically like an old school Walkman. Also can record audio if you want to pretend to be a 1980s detective ..... Love it! -You need to download "Audacity" to use the MP3 conversion feature, it's free, and my PC recognized the device without needing any drivers. Pretty much as easy as you can get. See my video for details, and know that this review was 100% written by me and not AI, and that I'm being 100% honest. This is an amazing value and an awesome device for an "Old-Head' (as the kids say) like me that still loves his tunes and wants to listen to them in a modern format!

I ordered this cassette player and digital converter drom the Amazon brand Reshow. Love it. And I really need it! I have so many old cassettes that havent been heard for years that have gotten a new lease of life using this Reshow cassette player. It has two main functions. The first is as a standard cassette player; and the second is as a digital converter, which converts the audio when playing into a digital file via a computer. I was able to listen to double-speed recorded tapes by converting the audio to an MP3 file, and then resaving that file at a different speed. great for the UK chart show circa 1994. The player requires 2 x AA batteries (not supplied) or a USB-C cable for power, and has a speaker for playback (although you can also use headphones). The build feels 'of its time', there's a reassuing click and clunk and actual mechanical action when you press buttons :-D One thing - you do need to use audacity or in my case Quicktime audio if you are converting tapes onto a MAC. Five stars

Zeer matige bouwkwaliteit.
