This bit works perfectly for inserting inoculated wood dowels into logs. I’ve cut about 1000 plug holes in hardwood and the bit is still sharp enough. I think this would be a good bit to have in your toolbox if you like making furniture items, too. Very satisfied with my purchase!

The size was not clear. I thought it was a larger size. It will work with dowel plug spawn.

The results were kind of boring.

This drill bit is a MUST for making mushroom logs. I already owned plenty of drill bits, but they were painfully slow compared to this, and this monster leave the holes absolutely perfect for the plugs. I recommend going half-way in, backing out, and then finishing the hole. If you're too zealous with a green log, it's possible to get the bit jammed. I did this a couple of times and had to shut off the drill and twist the bit out by hand with a pair of channel locks, so don't try to force it. Slight learning curve.

I felt this was an unnecessary product until I purchased it. It works extremely well and makes setting plugs a breeze. Highly recommend

Did not work for its intended purpose. Bought 2, both wouldnt penetrate oak log more than about 1/4” deep with lots of effort. Purchased from another manufacturer, worked easily and efficiently.
