Q: Does the wood come in a different color? If not, can it be disasembled and painted a different color?

I do not believe there are choices of color for the wood, but mine came as a brown, grainy looking finish. I see no reason though why it could not be painted a different color. You would not need to disassemble, as it comes unassembled so you could paint it the color of your choice before assembly. Just make sure the sand the current finish in good shape so the new paint will stick.

Q: Does the 16VAC version have the transformer built in or does it need to be mounted externally?

The 16VAC version have not the transformer built in. It need to be mounted externally, this version is for you have 16VAC wire in the wall already (if you have a old lighted address plaque, that mind you have the 16V AC wire already.) and you can run the wire from your doorbell transformer and let the wire through the wall to your install place. The Doorbell Transformer is usually install on wall in your garage. Usually every house has a doorbell, so every house has a doorbell transformer, so usually you just find it and do not need to install it separately.

Q: I already have lighted street numbers on my house. Will this sign work with the existing wiring in my wall?

Existing lighting house numbers, usually powered by a doorbell transformer, typically have a voltage of 16 VAC, so the 12-16 VAC version is right for you.

Q: Where is the sensor located?

The AC 16V Version do not need choose sensor, it build in plaque already. it located you can see in the picture six. it is below the panel and between the wood boards, underneath the middle of the cover. another pictures is didn't have sensor version plaque.
